Everyone will have to register their nationality with the government. No one will be exempt. People of certain nationalities will be targeted for removal. Those who look like they might be from those nations will be marked as suspects, constantly subject to harassment, official and unofficial.

The official language will be English: only. Those who try to shelter, clothe, feed, or give gainful employment or medical assistance to the targeted population will be punished.

This isn’t South Africa under Apartheid; it’s not the Deep South under Jim Crow. It’s not Nazi Germany, or 1984 . It’s Hazleton Pennsylvania, USA- population 31,000. The year is 2006 in the Common Era: 514 years since the white invasion of the Americas.

Let’s make one thing clear; none of this is about “illegal immigration.” It’s not even about immigration.

Before it passed, Anna Arias spoke at the Hazelton council meeting against the ordinance, warning that its approval would make Hazleton "the first Nazi city in the country." When she asked the crowd if they would deport the children of undocumented workers – utterly “legal” US citizens - the crowd shouted “Yes!”

This sort of thinking concerns me primarily due to the fact the population is simply looking at race with ager.

People are entilted to opinions, but I don't think they should be able to force those opinions on other people without good reason.

Illegal immigration is a problem that needs to be dealt with, however the attitudes displayed by these people is not the way forward

I'm almost positive this is unconstitutional and will most likely be overturned by the courts, even if it passed.

There's no way they can implement this legally.

Everytime I've been to Hazleton, I have never seen a sheep

It's a former boom mining town taken over by Italians and then left to rot, now the Hispanics are now replacing the Italians

Nice Regal theater, Damons is delicious, and the Terrace section is very upper-middle class

I admire their desire for a crime free community. I also admire that their willing to call a rose a rose and have identified the fact that minorities are far more likely to commit crimes.

That said, while simply removing the more crime-ridden ethnicities from a community would do wonders - it is unconstitutional.

Yeah, because that's not what their newly passed law says.

It says that if you can not provide documenation of citizenship, then you are out.

Well, not being able to provide proof of citizenship is an entirely different thing from not being able to buy, sell, own land, etc, if you're a certain color.

From what I have heard about this town, and what they passed, is that they basically want people to prove they are citizens before they can work, or live in that city.

So, the law will say it has nothing to do with color it has to do with legal status.

The activists will say it's because the white people don't like Mexicans.

But, the problem is, is that the illegals are Mexicans.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a city wanting to require proof of citizenship for things like that?

I mean, you have to show proof of various things that indicate citizenship for a lot of things, so if that's what it is then it's not that big of a stretch

Well, people are getting puffy because that's the basic law everywhere, but it's not enforced, so this city is going to start fining people who aren't checking for employment and housing....

And now the "immigrants" (I love how they keep leaving out ILLEGAL in front of that.) are screaming unfair and racist...
