I agree. Michael Moore and the like get recognition from Hollywood because their documentaries are Hollywood-esque films. That is, they're overhyped pieces of shit with edge-of-your-seat music playing through a montage of dramatic footage interlaced with pseudo-witty dialog and amateur, at best, representation of whatever subject is being filmed. . . . just like anything else that comes out of Hollywood.

Of course there are exceptions (March of the Penguins comes to mind), but I must emphasize that they are just that: exceptions. I'm sure we've heard the phrase, "They are the exception, not the rule."



Some other, real, documentaries would be Falling Man, Blaming the Jews, Gods Next Army, Make Me Normal, Walking with Cavemen, and Connections (BBC series), to name a few. Those documentaries are very opinionated, albeit backed with cited facts, but none of them have the audacity to make the claim that "100% of the scientific community is in agreement." That, alone, makes Al Gore's shit incomparable to what might be regarded as a "true documentary."

So Gore left the awards thinking how great he was and then rolled into his extremely wasteful Mansion (24X the energy used then an average families home) to ponder how else to make the common man feel "guilty" about driving their cars and warming their houses. Amazing....

It's a bigger issue than one man, I don't know that anyone should have to live in poverty to combat global warming.

There's steps everyone can take to lessen their impact though, who's to say he doesn't do anything?

I think the movie and helping with awareness and giving people the information and ideas they need to help start conserving energy is actually doing quite a lot to reduce pollution and energy use.

Also, how do we know what his energy bill looks like? Are we making a general assumption about the power consumption in a similar house? Do we know if he uses energy efficient appliances? Lights? Has solar or other power on his house? Any of that?

Drudges attack? He posted a story with no commentary of his own. It just happens to be against your "hero" who flies around the world in polluting private jets and uses twice the average power in his home each month as the average family uses in a year. He probably adds 4X as much greenhouse causing gases as my whole neighborhood combined when you include all the traveling he does. Smear merchants?

Rather than contribute to the greenhouse gasses and "purchase offsets," why can't he sacrifice a bit himself and live a more energy-efficient lifestyle?

He's asking the rest of the world to make sacrifices, but he does little more than "purchase offsets" in order to make up for his bloated energy use. Since he has so much money, purchasing offsets and buying more green energy is hardly a sacrifice for him.

I'm not asking him to live like a cave man, but he could at least sell the mansion and live in a normal home like the rest of us ordinary people. That would be a nice start and show that he is really serious about what he preaches.

His Natural Gas usage is more than my mortgage!!!

During that time, Nashville Gas Company billed the family an average of $536 a month for the main house and $544 for the pool house in 2006
