A large portion of scientists are saying that about GW too, though.

Unfortunately, for Gore, he's put himself into a position where he will be scrutinized exactly as he is. For someone who wishes people to 'cut back' in all ways of their lives, he should as well. That includes going to the extreme of living in a house that doesn't use up so many resources. Sorry to say, but for him it's going to be necessary of he wants to be viewed in a better light.

I think that is an incorrect interpretation of what he's doing though. He says "you guys should do this, this and this or global warming is going to get worse" (insert panel of scientists here) Then, while he does live a rich lifestyle, he does the same things he preaches everyone else to do. Nothing more, nothing less. You guys are attacking him for being wealthy and not for doing what he is asking others to do.

That a over simplification. I still don't understand why he needs some 20 times the average amount of electricity even with that size house? Although I did hear one report where he has a heated pool. Are the Gore's even home half the time? This reaks of the anti-smoking tobacco farmer to me!

Donkey once said that nobody is doing enough because nobody is giving up everything they can that nobody is "living by the means and giving by the means", that is keeping just enough to live on and give everything else away to people who are less fortunate.

Yet Al Gore does not do that. He lives in expensive homes and does not give away his money. Sure, he does the bare minimum to help the enviroment, but what is he really sacrificing?

Why doens't he live in a smaller home? He has only four children, why does he need such a large house? A three bedroom house and two bathrooms should do it. That's all he reall needs.

And he does need more money than the rest of us. It costs say roughly ten thousand (arbitrary choice) a year to raise children so that's an extra $40,000. So let's be generous and say he only needs $80,000 a year. The vice President makes $208,000 a year, which means he needs to give up $120,000 of it to charity. As a senator he makes $162,000, so that's $82,000 he needs to give up to charity.

But all he does is change a few lightbulbs and thats okay.

I'll never understand doublestandards.

On that level, I still feel that way and Gore is among those people that live in excess...which I have said MOST people in this country do. That isn't the point though. The point is that Gore says "do this, this or this" and he does those things.

Gore comes from serious money and he made wealth during his lifetime. He has become comfortable in his wealth position and lifestyle. I see this as no suprise as I know with a house that size that is par for the course if not a little under par.

The movie needs dramatic overtones and hollywood exhuberance to really make a point like any hollywood movie. Does it have good points.... you bet. Is there fluff as well..... you bet. (personally I haven't seen it yet but educated guess).

Really he gets credit for bringing this issue forefront to the average consciousness. Most people don't read newspapers or watch news and really are clueless about current events. It will at least bring awareness to those folks and at best spark arguments and research with the more educated ones. That is more than you can hope for the average movie out there.

So I see criticism of his personal life irrelevant but entertaining none the less. I guess we are all learning including him. It is too easy these days to shoot the messenger rather than listen to the message. It does make you go hmmmmm.
