Well, the phrase "to know" is often sued in the Bible and has several meanings. One of those meaning is "to have sex" So sometimes when the Bible says "to know God" that means "to have sex with God".

Certainly not, which solidifies my theory that it wasn't directed towards them.

That means very little when talking about the main religion in this country...

My question to you is how would a Muslim viewing this show find it any less offensive than a Christian would?
As you've already pointed out, they're not rioting, are they? Now, imagine if it was Mohammed...

How so? That doesn't make any sense. It was directed towards anyone who believes in God and Muslims do believe in God along with Jews and Christians.

Muhammad would be much more so directed towards one religion. I don't think it would actually go over that badly. I think you would get upset phone calls and maybe even a few threats, but such a depiction wouldn't be seen as an attack on the Islamic world by the west as much as the Danish cartoons were. We had Carlos Mencia boxing an invisible Muhammad on his show and I didn't see any negative backlash, did you?

I didn't see any violent backlash over the South Park two parter dealing with Muslims, nor over their earlier episode where they actually have a non-censored depiction of him.

I think we would see a reaction much the same as if it had been Jesus. Well, maybe not exactly the same, but the world situation for the two groups isn't the same either and must be taken into account.

I watched the sex with god episode last night and, as I suspected originally, he is a religionless God. The fact that you think it was geared toward Christians was certainly her intent, but not her specific intent. She just as much wanted you to whine about her sleeping with Christian God as she wanted Jews to about Jew God and Muslims to about Muslim God and whomever else. Reactionary comedy is about offending as many people as possible, and the "funny" part isn't necessarily what happened on the show, but the reaction she gets from it in this very thread. This thread makes her comedy THAT much funnier. The people who get the comedy are kinda "in the loop" whereas everyone else is the ones really being laughed at.
I completely disagree that there's any kind of "loop" to be in with her comedy, she's simply untalented and knows how to say offensive things (like everyone else on the planet). The stuff she says doesn't bother me other than the time I've wasted watching her overly predictable crap

There are plenty of great reactionary comics out there, she's most definitely not one of them..

She absolutely is a reactionary comic... how can you say she isn't? Anyone who is offensive for comedy is a reactionary comic. The entire point of that style of comedy is for a decent portion of the audience to either be offended or the option to be offended.

I still say by getting a stick up your ass about it (plural 'you') simply makes her funnier.

Er, I'm not saying she's not a reactionary comedian, just not a great (or even good) one IMO. Everything she does is old and unoriginal from what I've seen

She has maybe one or two jokes I thought were chuckle worthy but that's about it.

I watched two of her shows, but I didn't find them all that entertaining. From the hype and previews I was expecting more.

Like Motivez said, a couple of chuckle worthy comments, but that's about it. I'd rather do something else.

now, if i was trying to be offensive for the sake of comedy, i would have taken it farther to the point of it being absurd. her show does not strike my fancy.

Mind you, response to such 'offensive' materials like cartoons goes far beyond just the radical zealots, terrorists and the like. Entire cities are in an uproar across the world.
So your point is, Sarah Silverman makes a joke about having sex with god........ Muslims are crazy. Hardly topical or timely.

No. That's the Christian Ego in this Country. Ya'll don't own everything.

It's less to do with ego and more to do with facts. I never claimed we owned anything, except a majority religion

Considering Muslims haven't rioted in the streets/blown up TV stations/whatever over this I don't think this is very good evidence that Muslims and Christians react to attacks on their god in different manners. Actually, considering some people automatically claim this is an attack on the Christian god only (despite the fact the god was black ) I think this more shows the hyperactive persecution complex some Christians have. But who cares? It is on comedy central on an apparently unfunny show. Change the dial and this will be her last season.

I don't see how people can think God is black or white or any color... People think Jesus was black because of the area where he was born and the time period in which he was born.

Not that it matters in this discussion.

Religious Fact is an Oxymoron. Religion is based on Faith. Faith and Fact are not the same thing.

God is a vague nouin. If it had the same meaning to everyone we wouldn't have different religions.

It could be she was having sex with the hypothetical God of all religions.....to equally offend everyone.
