Global Cooling is real, poses threat to humanity

We've had cooler temperatures in the month of Februrary than we have in 113 yrs.

Think this is ridiculous?

That's right it is. About as ridiculous as the hype surrounding global warming. After we have enough of this hysteria, people will realize the weather is going to do what it wants to do!

Silly conservative, any temperatures that are not spot on with "average" are evidence of global warming.

Because if February 2007 was shown as the warmest in 113 years it would be front page news and a thread would surely have been made about it.

Personally, I like the warmth, but you're right, if it was the hottest on record, it would be attributed to global warming.

On the other hand, what happens when global disasters are lower than usual? That's right, silence...

its because when greenland melts its ice will get into the ocean which will make the super duper cold water mingle with the warm ocean water which will cause the ocean currents to mess up and according to al gore will stop the ocean completely and will prevent warm water from reaching cold places so the cold places dont have warmth offsetting their cold which makes the cold places get super duper duper duper cold thus causing the northern hemisphere to freeze over a la the day after tomorrow and we end with a bit of poetic irony with americans fleeing into mexico to escape the instability of their country oh and the canadians all get trampled by a stampede of mooses

Any case for global warming needs to be based on measurable long term trends, not sudden events. That is pure hype, and the post is being sarcastic but is a valid argument none the less. You can't have it both ways. The problem is when you look at the real long term data, not just the data durring industrialization as so many like to do, you find vast amounts of climate change that can't be CO2 related.

Valid science: If data suggest we are in a global warming period, examine that data for cause, all possible cause.

Invalid science: I believe in greenhouse CO2 global warming. So I will complile evidence to prove my case, ignor what suugests to the contrary, and program computer simulations of my assumptions right or wrong for furture model prediction.

I agree that if we had to hear about global warming every time we had above average temps in the summer,the below average temps or record lows in the winter should be mentioned as well. Fair is fair right?

I'm not saying there is no global warming!!!
I'm just saying you can't just focus on things that make your point of view or opinion look good and ignore other the rest because it doesn't fit.

There were no threads here last summer about high local temps and them relating to global climate change.

Yes, I believe that is also the point I'm making. However, we hear about very specific instances that 'prove' global warming ie. big hurricanes in 2005 (but no hurricanes in 2006?) or record heat waves like 'tulips in russia in winter?' (but what about snow in malibu...ok I admit that got some attention, but nothing about global warming)

The point is, so many specific instances are used to prove global warming, but all the specific instances that go against the idea are largely and wholly ignored.

not really.

I would be the first to say that any temperature fluctuation in either direction for several weeks or even a season... hell, even a year.. that's meteorology, not climatology.

I'm sure some people would run with it, just as you did with this topic (although you were being sarcastic).

However this is clearly an attempt to jab at people but I felt like taking the bait anyway
