Why did Air America fail? Will it fail again?

They were too fair... that's right, Air America failed because they were too fair...

AIR AMERICA COMPLETES SALE TO GREEN FAMILY
Statement:
AIR AMERICA COMPLETES SALE TO GREEN FAMILY

Steve Green to be Chairman, Mark Green President and Scott Elberg COO of "Air America 2.0"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW YORK-March 6, 2007- Air America, the progressive talk network, today announced that Green Family Media had formally completed its acquisition of the network.

“We’re obviously thrilled and relieved that the Green family will now take control of Air America and help take it to a new level,” said Scott Elberg, who has been the top executive at the company and will stay as its Chief Operating Officer. “We look forward to expanding our audience and continuing to give a voice to the progressive movement in this country.

In the new structure, Stephen Green will be the Chairman of the Board and Mark Green will be President, running the company with Mr. Elberg. Stephen Green will be the majority shareholder; the Progressive Radio Group, led by Terry Kelly; and Democracy Allies are the minority shareholders.

Air America currently is on 70 affiliates reaching a weekly audience of 1.7 million listeners. It produces 19 hours of original programming daily.

“Air America is a great idea and iconic name, but it’s also been an underperforming asset with unrealized potential,” said chairman Stephen Green. “We intend to stabilize its structure, programming and balance sheet – and then to turn it around by next year. I’m a businessman used to making money and Air America will be no exception.”

“We plan on a two-step turnaround to make this great brand Air America 2.0”, said president Mark Green. “First, we'll make sure our programming stays informative, sharp and entertaining – so that it's appealing to a growing audience and advertisers alike. Second, we’ll be thinking outside the radio box by creatively distributing great content across many platforms in the next years, including the web, video, mobile and broadband. We intend to become a must-hear content site for all people interested in truth, justice and the Air American way."

Stephen L. Green is the chairman of SL Green Realty Corp. and Gramercy Capital Corp., companies that are listed on the New York Stock Exchange (SLGreen Realty Corp. and Gramercy Capital Corp. are not part of this acquisition.)

Mark Green is the author/editor of 21 books (see www.MarkGreen.com), including the best-selling Who Runs Congress? (1972) and The Book on Bush (2004). He is the former elected Public Advocate for New York City (1993-2001), and the Democratic nominee for mayor in 2001. He currently teaches at NYU and is president of the not-for-profit research institute, The New Democracy Project. He has been a frequent guest on Air America, MSNBC, CNN and NY1.

Scott Elberg is a radio veteran with 25 years of experience in both the Boston and New York area. Prior to joining Air America Radio in Spring of 2005, Elberg was Vice President of Sales at Univision Radio for three years in New York City -- and before then Vice President of WKTU Radio in New York City, where he led the station to the top 5 in the New York market in both ratings and revenue in 2000, 2001, and 2002.
The Green family bought out Air America and is looking to start Air America 2.0. What's on the agenda for Air America 2.0?
Well in an e-mail put out by Mark Green (new owner)
It'll be a business with a sharp point of view. The era of on-the-one-hand-on-the-other-hand liberalism is over -- or as Robert Frost once wrote, 'a liberal man is too broad-minded to take his own side in a quarrel.'

That's right no more "on the otherhand." Liberals are too elite to take their own side without offering counter opinion
Therefore Air America 2.0 will get rid of all that. That's why Air America failed so many times before, it wasn't partisan enough...

When will these elitist morons ever learn?

It will fail again.

There isn't really a market for this type of station.

Liberals don't want to listen to hour after hour of a talking head expressing their opinion.

Sure they do, they just prefer to get it from NBC (Olbermann), etc..

Radio works for the GOP because their televised media is limited to Fox.

Good point.

On a side note, Thor, why do you have that Hitler quote? Just curious, since he was a known liar and knew that pretending to be a Christian would get him more favor with the German people in his early rise to power. Are you trying to say Hitler was a true Christian and use that as a way to imply one of the most horrible men in history believed in the teachings of Jesus?

Just curious.

Hitler - 1941
"National Socialism and religion cannot exist together....
"The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity. Bolshevism is Christianity's illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew. The deliberate lie in the matter of religion was introduced into the world by Christianity....
"Let it not be said that Christianity brought man the life of the soul, for that evolution was in the natural order of things."

"Christianity is an invention of sick brains: one could imagine nothing more senseless, nor any more indecent way of turning the idea of the Godhead into a mockery....
"When all is said, we have no reason to wish that the Italians and Spaniards should free themselves from the drug of Christianity. Let's be the only people who are immunised against the disease."

No, he used Christian ramblings to get Germans (most of whom were of course, Christians) to think he was a good Christian.

As I showed in his later words, he despised Christianity. He was neither a Christian nor an atheist. He only worshiped himself and a greater Germany and he felt "something out there" wanted him to be in power. Christianity was a threat to him once he was in power.

But if you feel good about using your signature as a billboard to somehow make Christians feel bad because Hitler was one :rolleyes" go right ahead. We all know the truth.

This is the difference between Democrats and far left Democrats. When the former win (or most often lose) an election they are careful to try and understand why. Who among voters did they reach and who they did not? And example is the last election. Other than just being the usual second mid-term loss for a President it was also a centrist Democrat victory. They know it and that's why the Blue Dogs are holding Pelosi's Air America crowd back.

But liberals don't get it. They can't be wrong. They can't be way out of step with the American people. And if they finally come to the realization that they might be (?) then the fault is they failed to get their message out. They are being too nice, not partisan enough. That opposing viewpoints are nothing more than evidence of ignorance and hostility. They become the very narrowminded left-wing version of the Archie Bunker's they despise. As laughable as this is to most of us they really do believe this stuff.

That is really just an admission that they are not liberals in the classical meaning. That they have really become left-wing ideologues. They are the ones teaching college kids to shout people down.

He didn't like some of the origins that many christians took...no different than many christians who despise the Roman Catholic Church and Orthodox Church's rule over all christians for centuries

Again, there are so many denominations that think the other denominations are going to hell, there is no point in setting out here who is the real christian

If he believed in the writings about Jesus were his main spiritual souce...That's a Christian...

I'm sorry if you think I'm dismissing this...and I am...but your arguments are pretty much cut and paste from what denominations say about other denominations

"look at all his evidence that i think doesn't make A a real christian...but go ahead think A is a christian all of us Bs know that A is not a christian"

Strange how liberal democrats won the majority of seats in the last election, yet they completely don't understand America...

I listened to it once for about 8 minutes and turned it off, never listened to it again. It was back when the issue of minoritys having no other choice but to serve in Iraq was being debated. They were trying to make a point about how recruiters know that poor people in general have very few choices and how they target them. Well they started to say how the marines were going to put chicken and watermelon on their advertisements to target minorities. It discredited their argument, themselves, and made me turn the station. It was as affective as Anne Coulter calling John Edwards a faggot.

He likes using out of context, retarded quotes to troll. Just like he was doing with his "Jesus hates the rich" Scriptures until I owned him with my signature. Then he switched it to this retarded thing. ZOMG Hitler was a Christian, Christians suck!!!!11

I simply turned it off because I don't feel the need to hear other liberals talk about their opinions for more than 10 minutes a day...when im reading liberal blogs I skip most of what they say and just check out the news links...same thing with redstate and conservative blogs

With TV/Radio...there is no fast-forward button (ok maybe Tivo, but that'd still be a lot harder than scrolling with a mouse)
