Liberty Lounge Folding@Home team?

Is anyone else here interested in starting a Folding@Home team for this site? I'm only posting this to see if there is any interest in this project.

If you don't know what folding is, here is some info.

Folding@Home Distributed Computing

You are donating your spare CPU cycles to the project. You can run the client on as many machines as you like as long as they have an internet connection.

Many websites have been doing this and it's a great way of helping out in a charitable way.

If anyone has any more questions or comments (leave any negativity out of this thread) just post here and I will answer to the best of my ability.

Click on the crash course link and follow the instructions for everything other than the team name.
Make sure you enter the team number 54195 and put in your username as the same you use here (or at least close).

Sure, I'll do that. The machine on my desk has a badass connection (I am 2 ethernet connections and a fiber connection away from the backbone) and is brand new and sits on my desk unused at least 16-20 hours a day.

Just let me know what to do

I'll get a guide going on how to set it up by the end of the weekend?

I'm hoping that if a few of us get going on it, more will join in.

It's pretty easy to set it up. Lots of websites have guides that I can shamelessly pillage.

my PC isn't too fast at all (I got it for free) but I have it running for ya

how intense is this on my internet connection? can I play some Xbox 360 on my wireless network without worrying about this baby making me lag?

Practically nothing. The work units are well under 5MB and they only use the internet when sending a completed unit and picking up a new one. Sometimes that is only once in a few days.

The program isn't very accurate sometimes too.

Mine is bugged and says my WU won't complete for 104 days.

If you ever really think you are stuck on a WU, like it goes all day without completing any portion of it, you can shut down F@H and delete the FAH core and work files. That will get you a new core and WU when you run F@H again.

Mine says it'll finish the WU tomorrow. I'm at 119/5000 going at 22s/frame

how's everyone else doing on their first WU? I'm pushin 3700/5000, says it'll be finished in 7 hours. We still have no one up on our team page

well no wonder you'll finish a WU so fast, mine is much much bigger, I think 20,000.... I'm up to like 1000 or 1200 I think, that's it

plus my PC is slow as heck comparatively, I'm sure of that

but hey, it was FREE!
