| TheStar.com - artsentertainment - Sparta? No. This is madness Basically what I said before, the Spartans were the most NAMBLA culture to exist...possibly ever...and Miller has them making fun of others? It's not just "making up a story about the spartans" as the article explains its ok to make sometimes significant changes, but to out-right lie about a culture is weird IN REFLECTION, but you can still enjoy the movie...but realize its as historically accurate as triumph of the will | ||||

| I thought the goblins and monsters was a giveaway that it wasn't real. I never went in to the movie with the intentions or the thought that they were even attempting to be historically accurate. It's a slice and dice movie about a historic group. I don't analyze the Flintstones for the same reasons...

| its not about a historic group, they made up a culture it's a pure cartoon and we all know not everyone is going to come out thinking "wow, that was all 100% false!" One of the most damaging things is that a vast majority are going to buy the anti-homosexual lines as being Spartan when in real life they enjoyed fucking 12 year old boys as 30-60 year old men, or forcing other prepubescent boys to suck their cocks | ||||

| really though. It got all the history it needed to get correct, correct. It showed that Sparta was a near complete militaristic society. It showed that Xerxes wanted to subjugate the world; even got the dirt and water part right. It showed the ephors and oracle telling leonidas not to go fight and to respect the festival. It showed that a very small number of Spartans went to defend their land at a narrow passage way from 10s of thousands of Persians and it showed them all dying. | ||||

Xerxes wanted to stop trouble making the Greeks were giving the Persians over the Ionians, and revenge the defeat of his father's small expedition from Marathon...Xerxes already had land much more valuable in Carthage, and he wanted more civilizations the Indian civilization was right next door to him It was the Spartan leaders who decided to send a smaller force, but it was much larger than 300, Leonidas himself could have decided without oracle or any other advice to go with a smaller force Also it didn't show other Greeks who stayed dying, nor really much of any other Greek involvement So basically everything you said was wrong, and proves my point, it makes people think moronic things

| A lot of things were "frowned upon" by the Greeks, that doesn't mean it didn't happen, besides thats why I left out "anal" fucking, and a 12 year old forced to give a 60 year old man a blowjob is probably worse anyway | ||||

It's kind of amusing how important it seems for you to be right or get the last word about it, so speaking of problems, it sounds like there might be some underlying ones there with regards to history.. ![]() My take is to each his own. I'm not going to go around insulting people because they're capable of judging a movie on multiple levels. ![]() * fixed
