Why bother with the WD drive instead of getting two Seagate ones?

I've had some issues with WD in the past, and Seagate has the best warranty in the industry..

Raptors are significantly faster than Barracudas.

I'm not sure what kind of chipset limitations there are on SSHDs and HHDs, but you might want to make sure there aren't any before buying that unit. If there are some, make sure you meet the requirements because those are probably going to get big in the near future. HDs have been the biggest bottleneck on computers for years now.

They've probably been the main bottleneck ever since RAM was the big thing back in the old Windows days ... 10 years ago?

For the money I'd go with a better quality case. I'd throw the Thermaltake PSU in the trash and get a better brand for that kind of money.

Everything else looks good. I was looking at getting the same motherboard/cpu/video/mem actually.

Not a fan of Thermaltake cases or PSUs though.

Wow, a wholesale upgrade. I haven't done that in a long time.

Looks good though.

Beyond a certain point is it really an issue for a home computer though?

I'd rather have a slightly slower reliable drive with an amazing warranty personally.

I dropped the WD and went up a step with the 8800 GTS (from 320mb to 640).

PSU has changed. I went with a 620W Corsair.

Anything you would suggest in the same price range for the case? This one seems to have good reviews.
Biggest thing I want is room for future video card up grades/SLI, removable MB tray and quiet fans if possible.

It's been a few years for me too.

I had a newer laptop I sold to a family member that's paying for this. It was just sitting around gathering dust.

I like to stay away from steel cases, but that's mainly because I take my computer to LAN parties. Although I haven't done that in over a year.

Faster HDD = shorter boot time. Gamers like the Raptors because games load faster too. There's a significant difference, from what I've seen.

Personally, I don't own a Raptor, and I don't think I'll ever get one. Even the SCSI HDDs are being antiquated by the solid state HDs and HHDs, so I'll definitely be getting one of those two next time I get one.
