10-Point Plan for Rebuilding the United States after Bush's Destruction

So our country continues to pump out leaders in our academic institutions like this, and we wonder why our education system is hurting? Dr. Rectenwald, you need a new hobby.

Here are the latest rantings by this nutcase:

10-Point Plan for Rebuilding the United States after Bush's Destruction

Bush has blown up the world. Now the onus is on Democrats to say how they would put it back together. Nice move.

I say, resist and tell it like it is. The war and the domestic crisis are the messes that Georgie made. Here are the steps I suggest to remedy this terrible situation.

1. Tell the people that George Bush and his friends are killers, liars, and thieves and that not only shouldn't they listen to him and them, but that they all belong in jail.

2. Get George and his friends out of the way -impeach, or if no time, wait till election-then put them in prison where they belong. No more reason to be afraid of what they say, calling opposition 'cut-and-run' Democrats. Let them say it from prison and see if they can 'cut-and-run' from behind bars.

3. Get the people he deployed to the disaster out of the disaster.

4. Rebuild the US first. Rebuild the schools, roads, infrastructure, housing, education system, medical insurance and other needs neglected by the Republicans over the last eight years, as they went on their killing spree and spent all of our money.

5. After cooling the Republicans by arresting most of them and shutting their stupid mouths forever, start working on reversing Global Warming.

6. Revoke all the tax cuts made by the criminal Bush clan.

7. Remove all the "Justices" put in place by the Bush clan, including on the Supreme Court.

8. Abolish all the bullshit programs put in place by Bush clan, including Medicaid "reform" and the provisions attached to the 'no-child-left-behind' scam. Surely Bush was left behind.

9. Consider the possibility that the Republican ideology contravenes the Constitution because its policies and beliefs endanger the well-being of the people. Consider making the Republican Party illegal.

10. Start a party that opposes the Democratic Party from the left of the Democratic Party and makes the Republican Party a detestable relic of the past akin to the slave-holding Southern rebels.

Anyone can have any opinion they want. I personally think some people on this forum are nut jobs and yet I realize they do not speak for their companies as this professor does not speak for Carnegie Melon.

Do you not think professors give their opinions when teaching our students?

I'm not worried about him representing our universities. I'm worried about what people like this are implementing into the education system.

He's an english teacher, lmao. If he can work this into a lecture, I'd be impressed. If he were a politcal science teacher I'd be more worried.

lmao

Don't be disillusioned; I know my boss's feelings on many political issue. Why do you think that is?

Does English not include writing? Does writing not include a variety of topics? I can think of many ways of incorporating politically charged issues into an English class.

Sniff....sniff....I smell a conspiracy theory coming......wait for it......

Would it surprise you to know I also work for a University? I have never found myself slipping my poltical views into my work and I work a lot closer to politics than this guy.

So under your theory, he is politicizing English? Should he be fired? Should we implement a strict separation of politics and higher education?

You've identified a problem, what do you suggest be done to fix it?

Carnegie Mellon University is private. I think your thoughts may have more merit if it was a public university.

publicly funded etc.....

No need...common sense trumps conspiracy theories on this one

Certainly not, that's the beauty of this forum; people have gathered from all walks of life.

I have never found myself slipping my poltical views into my work and I work a lot closer to politics than this guy.
Would it surprise you that I also work at a university? I'm pleased to hear you don't do it, but I've seen it happen far too often. Unfortunately, there are Ward Churchill's and the like everywhere. Views get mixed into the classroom arena, and just because you don't do it doesn't mean it's not happening.

So under your theory, he is politicizing English?
Under my theory, it's very possible he's incorporating other things into his curriculum other than, well, English.

Should he be fired?
Not necessarily.

Should we implement a strict separation of politics and higher education?
Not necessarily.

You've identified a problem, what do you suggest be done to fix it?
Perhaps he should be watched closely for the time being.

So they should send in someone undercover to sit in his class? They should review his syllabus before he is allowed to teach or hand it out? How would they "watch" him? Professors are fairly independent.

BTW, At my University, there are guidelines as to what you can post on University servers, even if it's your own page. Although we are public funded, so Carnegie Melon may not be concerned.

wow

I dont get it. He doesn't like dissenting voices (aka republicans) so he wants some party that agrees more with him or is even to his left and the democrats so he has two similar parties to choose from wayyy too typical by the extremes on both sides.

I can sorta agree with this

2. Get George and his friends out of the way -impeach, or if no time, wait till election-then put them in prison where they belong. No more reason to be afraid of what they say, calling opposition 'cut-and-run' Democrats. Let them say it from prison and see if they can 'cut-and-run' from behind bars.
I agree?

Agree

4. Rebuild the US first. Rebuild the schools, roads, infrastructure, housing, education system, medical insurance and other needs neglected by the Republicans over the last eight years, as they went on their killing spree and spent all of our money.
Spend more money? No

5. After cooling the Republicans by arresting most of them and shutting their stupid mouths forever, start working on reversing Global Warming.
This guy is an idiot

6. Revoke all the tax cuts made by the criminal Bush clan.

The problem is, that some subject matter is completely subjective, and it is infused with opinions. I don't think you can really teach well without being willing to express an opinion or your understanding.
