A boy was brutally arrested for riding his motorbike on a sidewalk:

Apparently the cop was just a little too rough on the lad and scared him.

I don't see what the big deal is, cops are rough on kids who break the law. I feel this is just another false black versus white thang where it's okay to be rough on white children but not on black children.

The kid broke the law, and should face the consequences.

it means "page 1" whereas if the boy was just "brought downtown" it would have been in the section F, regional, on page 18

I know this will sound racist as all heck but whatever.

The whole time growing up in south louisiana I never have seen a black person on a dirtbike. so this story in general seems out of whack with me.

I'd like to know what "brutal" is in this particular case. I find it hard to believe that any police officer would be "brutal" with a 7 year old kid.

since the reporter wasn't there witnessing the arrest we have to assume he got the information from the mother, and that she told him it was "brutal."

No.

Kikisa Dinkins said her son was sitting on the bike with the motor off on the sidewalk when an officer grabbed him by the collar and pulled him off.

"I told them to let go of my baby," Dinkins said.

She was right there when it happened.

Scaring someone doesn't quite fall into the 'brutality' category.

While I don't think there was anything "brutal" from the descriptions provided, acting like that with a kid is uncalled for (unless there are prevailing circumstances).
