They will be tried under the UCMJ in a court martial proceeding which consists of a jury of peers. This is a sad situation and a very bad call on the leader.

not really a jury of their peers, the members of the court (jury) will be high ranking enlisted and officers.

A jury of their peers would be consisted of lower ranking enlisted. fyi, just one of the many differences between civilian and military court systems

Peers are in regards to military peers. I think I got a good idea of how it runs being that I was called as a witness in a court martial proceeding and spent the last 21 yrs of my life in the military but thanks for the fyi.

Do you really think that a selection of SNCOs and Officers are really the peers of e-1 to e-5s? I would liken it to have a blue collar work tried by a jury of all upper management

Me personally? No, but the military is not a civilian world and those are the ranks that makes the decisions and enforces them. Also during the court martial that I attended, there was an E-5 in the jury along with some E-6's and E-7's. Besides the Judge, there were 2 captains and a major. This was a court martial proceeding for an E-6.
