Gore Violates Senate Rules - Rules don't apply to him

I don't know why, but it seem the republicans are bending over backwards to accommodate Gore's "special needs" but Gore still can't follow the rules.

Al Gore Continues to Demand Special Treatment
March 20, 2007

Posted By Marc Morano – 8:08 PM ET – Marc_Morano@EPW.Senate.Gov

From behind the scenes on Capitol Hill: Former Vice President Al Gore, despite being given major preferential treatment, has violated the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee’s (EPW) hearing rules.

Gore first demanded to be granted an unprecedented 30 minute opening statement to the Senate EPW Committee for Wednesday’s (March 21) global warming hearing scheduled for 2:30 pm ET.
(See "FULL COMMITTEE: Vice President Al Gore’s Perspective on Global Warming" )

The GOP minority on the EPW committee agreed to the 30 minute opening statement.

But then Gore demanded a waiver of the EPW committee’s 48 hour rule that requires all witnesses before EPW to submit their testimony in advance. The GOP minority on the EPW committee then agreed to waive the 48 hour rule in favor of allowing Gore to submit his testimony 24 hours before the hearing.

But in a breaking news development on Capitol Hill -- the former Vice President has violated the new 24 hour deadline extension by failing to submit his testimony – even with the new time extension granted to Gore.

As of 8pm ET Tuesday evening, the testimony still has not been received by EPW, a clear violation of committee rules.

The word on Capitol Hill says not to expect Gore’s testimony to the Senate EPW committee until Wednesday (March 21) -- the day of the hearing.

It appears that Gore does not believe the same rules apply to him that apply to every other Senate EPW witness.

The question looms on Capitol Hill: Is Gore delaying the submission of his testimony until the very last moment because he fears it will give members of the EPW committee time to scrutinize it for accuracy?
Just like his house and his private jet flights everywhere, the rules seem to apply to everyone, except him.

Typical....

Now the question is who's going to have the balls to call him on it and cancel his testimony?

Jets are used by all public figures of such acclaim that are demanded everywhere at once
His house uses alternative energy, green energy, and he runs a large organization out of his house

And he made suggestions, not rules, so he can't possibly be violating them

And a former VP of the US and elected president of 2000 can ignore GOP whining, notice how they DON'T say "this is without precedent"?

If the Senate believes he is so flaunting the senate rules then they shouldn't hear him

When he submits it they should say "thanks, now come back in 48 hours to give your testimony" and kick him in the fucking ass.

wow, the horror.

I mean, he didn't file a speech within 48 hours. Next thing you know he'll be listening in on phone calls, seizing records without a warrant, and using the Patriot Act for domestic criminal cases.

oh, wait.

with all the current scandals going on right now, this is one where honestly nobody gives a fuck except those few desperately trying to find anything, ANYTHING to divert attention away from the gross incompetence, arrogance, and power abuses of the current administration.

and it shows with this thread.

Wait... I may be wrong but I believe gore ASKED to speak to the committee. Then he asked for a waiver for many of their rules about speaking there. Maybe I'm missing something but he's going there to basically tell them to stop CO2 emissions but when asked for what he was going to say (including his evidence for saying it) he wouldn't give it.

That's the key right there. There's a reason the rules are in order. The Committee is not a place for him to propagandize like he did in An Inconvenient Truth without the ability of cross-examination of his facts. If he wants to shoot crap from his mouth he can do so for his $250k a pop at a local college university. But, if he wants to do it to our government he should allow them to examine his facts before attempting to persuade our politicians on false information.

There are rules that have to be followed but obviously, because he is a Democrat, he doesn't need to follow them. And the sheep in here think the same!

As I said above, Republicans gave him a lot of leeway and allowed his requests to bypass some of the rules, yet he still shit on the rules that were left.

Typical elitist liberal "the rules don't apply to me" bullshit.
