| I would say that i disagree because it would not provide anything productive. If she knows she is 7 weeks pregnant they already have an idea how far it has progressed. What does the ultra sound accomplish? They claim it is to see if the mother would reconsider in the article and give it up for adoption. Well why is she reconsidering? Most of the time it is because it is mentally torturing her in to bringing the baby to term via some sort of guilt trip. I know some will say "good nothing wrong with that, it is part of the responsibility for her actions". I can buy that to a certain extent but accidents happen, and a 14 year old girl does not need any further mental issues than she will already have from the procedure. | ||||

| I can see where this would have it's benefits. But I don't believe it should be forced either. But I think they should do an u/s on every one of them who come in pregnant to get the accurate gestation age. | ||||

| I'm pro-choice, but against abortion being used as an alternative form of birth control that so many woman use it as today. For those who get pregnant by accident, nothing is wrong with the baby, and they simply don't want the child, this would be an interesting thing to show them. to see if it would change their mind, to keep it or to give it up for adoption. I can see the different arguments against forcing the expectant mother at looking at the ultra-sound, but it would have an impact on that percentage of mothers. but the other group, the ones who were raped, those whose babies are going to have birth defects, those are probably already having enough to deal with besides being forced to look at a picture of what's growing inside them. it's an interesting debacle nonetheless.

Unless you are saying the state should have to pay for it? In that case, isn't that just looking past something that's on the socialized medicine side just to help with religious beliefs? | ||||

| as has been said, this procedure does nothing to inform the couple/woman of what is about to happen, as any insight gained will be subjective. its an appeal to emotion, plain and simple. the absurdity of this law is realized upon placing it in other circumstances. the example of having family members watch home movies of the soon-to-be deceased is a fine example. many people who shouldn't have credit cards do get credit cards, and it ultimately fukes their lives up. we have no problem with this, as we grant others the benefit of the doubt that they know what is best for them.

You might want to look at the regret and long term mental anguish that many young women have been talked into abortion! Real easy "feel good" for non-pregnant women and men to play moral uncertainty. As I posted before. This should not be forced by law, but I have no problem with clearly showing a young woman that this has consequences beyond her own body if she is open to that!

| Maybe they should also require people to name the fetus before aborting it...just to make a more informed decision. | ||||
