| Consequences of Iraq on Israel/Lebanon We're now at a new crossroads with the Israel/Lebanon conflict. The Shiites are not happy with Israel and their bombing of Lebanese women and children. The Shiites contain two-thirds the population in Iraq. Without their support, Iraq is lost. Most moderate Shiite leaders are accepting of the US occupation. However, people like Sadr are not. And unfortunately Sadr is also violent. He has a strong following and religious motivations. He is now condemning Israel and it'e becoming a possibility that Iraqi "insurgents" will run up to Lebanon and defend Hizbollah. This could become more of a reality if Iran instigates, as they're likely to do. If the Shiites work themselves up to attack Israel they'll also be working themselves up to hate speech against the US who supports Israel. This will cause even more instability in the Iraqi region. Now I'm not saying Sadr is much of a threat to Israel. But he is a threat to US interests in Iraq. Before he goes there will be a lot of anti-American sentiment drawn up. The region is so fragile as it is. So now the question rises, do you think we could lose Iraq due to the Israel / Lebanon conflict? Do you think it's in our best interest to fight for a ceasefire and end the fighting before it goes too far against our interests in the Middle East? | ||||

| no. sadr was violent and hated the US before the israeli situation. i think Iran is pulling strings in both Iraq and the Israel/Lebanon situation. Iran has more influence over both than the populations of Iraq. | ||||
