I wouldn't have cared if he had an eye patch or full indian headdress as long as i was teaching and kids were learning. You can wear a cross if you want but don't drag a 10' reproduction of christ's crucifixion. Wear a turban but you can't bring a kirpan (even if it's permanently locked/sealed in the sheath). When you step over the line and make <whatever it is> the center of attention then you can take that center of attention and leave. Same with this kid... he didn't want to wear an eye patch he wanted to make a statement. Fuck him and his statement. Nobody would have given a shit if he wore a patch (again, unless he'd done it before to a make a statement and gotten in trouble, which he had). People gave a shit because he demanded attention for it and disrupted the teaching environment. So, fuck him, and adios. | ||||

| Children don't have all their rights in schools. It's been precedented that schools can limit speech, etc. I wouldn't be able to go to school with a "Fuck Jesus" tee-shirt. And he isn't able to come to school wearing a Halloween costume praying to a Lasagna God that was made up as a joke. | ||||

| I dunno dude. Essentially it's the same thing as this kid dressing up as the guy from the Trojan Condom commercials and claiming to pray to the Condom Gods of the planet Urethra. And the school told him to not do it and as it would be disruptive. He did it anyway, his mother said he went to far and the school told him to take some time to himself to think over his priorities and what he's attending school for. The school did the right thing. The kid is an idiot and should not be allowed to disrupt everyone else's education with his childish and immature pranks. | ||||

| People who say he wasn't being disruptive need to really sit back and think about what it was like when they attended high school. If this happened at your school at the age of 14-17 how do you think your peers would have responded. He was being a disruption, his parents aren't really standing up for him they admit he took it too far. He got his punishment that was rightfully deserved. | ||||
