I like his points on minimum wage. Especially the point that it was $1.25 in the 1965 which is equal to more than 8 bucks an hour today

yeah, he is absolutely right, but the issue of shocking the labor market with a quick increase to $8.00 is still an issue

You don't see us going to the rest of the world for our medical treatment.. And our government has no sense of moderation. They wouldn't be able to handle socialized medicine.

Link to these polls? Granted its been about 15 or 18 months but the last NBC/WSJ poll I saw was in the other direction. About 63 or 65% were against and then about 30% for and the remained undecided. I wish I could remember the exact numbers, I just remember it was close to 2/3 against.

from what i remember, you are right about that particular poll which i think used the term socialized medicine, or universal health care, whatever the buzzard was.

however, from what i recall, when it was asked with the phrasing of something like "do you think that the us government should provide health insurance to all americans as part of what is "included"" then people were overwhelmingly in favor...i'd have to look it all up again.

the government providing medical care is a lot different than the government providing health insurance...although i don't believe they should do either.

Well the reality is there isn't a big difference and its that phrasing that pisses me off. There's not a big difference but a lot of people dont understand the difference and its easier for the left to push their agenda of socialized medicine if they can think up something else to call it. So they call it "health insurance" instead of "socialized medicine" its all to accomplish the same thing.

arguably to accomplish what they see as a pretty good thing for everyone, regardless of party affiliation.

Yeah, I mean as much as I like to pretend they just wanna screw us over, reality is many see it as a good thing. I think based on statistical evidence its not a good thing so I'm opposed to it for the good of the US. The same reason they're for it

The other half is that 50% of all personal bankruptcies are triggered by medical expenses, and as you'll recall, these personal bankruptcy laws were just changed to make it more difficult to declare personal bankruptcy. here's the other bigger picture. socialized medicine decreases the quality of medical care of 300 million people.

Will it really? Why? It's not like people will be disallowed from paying out of pocket for whatever they want from whomever they want, or from buying private insurance on whatever terms they want.

you and i will be forced to pay for medical insurance for the lazy AND pay for our own insurance? fuck that.

if that's something you want to do, i'm sure nobody is stopping you from doing that now.
