And since the iranians has to cross one mile into iraqi waters I'd say that was illegal. And since they captured soldiers who were not in their waters i'd say that was kidnapping. You can keep defending them all you want but it's not going to change the facts.

| Glad this has been defused. I think the UK article that this was retaliation for US kidnapping of Iranian diplomats in Iraq is probably more accurate than anything having to do with oil prices or their economy. I believe we have released several of their diplomats that we kidnapped in the last few days, so I was sort of expecting this result. | ||||

I think it is quite likely they temporarily crossed into Iranian waters and Iran in normal fashion for them decided to make something of it.

When it gets into the low 50's Iran is really in a bind, so they drum up a reason to capture a few soldiers and send the western world into a tizzy.

They have a right to their sovereignty as much as anyone. We have forces all around their country and a wannabe cowboy giving orders. You can't blame them for acting like this.

If it was about oil though, it wouldn't be the first time a nation has taken hostile actions to protect oil interests, it's something we've been doing in the Middle East for the last 50 years.
