Romney hits #1 in NH, Edwards surge continues

Zogby International

Nice, a conservative hits #1 in NH...McCain is tanking and Rudy is slipping

Also, Edwards ties for 2nd

Edwards is already leading in IA

If he takes IA, in all likelyhood, and then uses that to go from 2nd to 1st in NH...sweet for Dems, he's clubbing everyone except Rudy, who is slipping both in the primary and in his general election numbers

Edwards Nomination + Non-Rudy = Sure Dem win (baring some miracle or disaster)

I think it's sad about Edwards. These are pretty much "pity points" in the polls. Has anything changed about Edwards' message? Somehow his political message just suddenly clicked with the American people? No. Just more publicity, and a bit of a humanizing effect for him too. I wish he was surging because he has a compelling message, not because his wife got whacked by the cancer stick (to paraphrase Stephen King.)

Edwards is also becoming the logical choice for those not happy with Clinton or Obama, the only real alternatives with a chance to win.

The GOP race is very interesting too. The far right wing is the engine of the party, and whoever gets the nomination has to win the primaries first. I'd be very curious as to how Romney would play in a national campaign. How well do you guys and gals think he would really do, realistically?

Totally agree and I think the numbers of those who don't want Obama or Clinton will keep climbing.

Clinton I don't want for the simple reason she's going to bring down our ticket nationwide...a lot of anti-clinton voters will hit (R) for every spot when they were about to stay home, we won't lose the house or senate IMO, but we could lose out on our chance to get +5 senate seats and +10 house seats...setting ourselves up for filibuster proof in the senate and blue-dog proof house majorities in 2010

Obama...for all his hype he should be closer to Hillary in national polls by now...i know it's early but it seems his magic was over-rated by the media, i could be wrong but this isn't a game

Edwards or Richardson would beat anyone the GOP could line up if they don't explode, and they're both progressives,

One thing I don't get, conservatives tore apart McCain, for now, and he's sinking while Thompson and Romney are rising to face Rudy...how the hell are the powers that be in the conservative movement going for rudy who is 100x more liberal than McCain...even 2000 McCain was significantly more conservative than 2007 Rudy

My guess is that they're waiting for the right conservative candidate, and then boom they'll unload Karl Rove style on Rudy and we'll see him fall like Dean did
