One victim dead; police unsure whether gunman fled, or still in building

TROY, Michigan - A gunman opened fire on three people inside a suburban Detroit office building Monday morning, killing one and injuring the others, police said.
A spokeswoman for Beaumont Hospital, Ilene Wolfe, said the two wounded victims were both men but she had no details about the other victims.
Police were searching for Anthony LaCalamita, a 38-year-old from Troy, Lt. Gerry Scherlinck said. Scherlinck said he may have fled in his car, a silver 2007 Ford Fusion with the license plates BEY 0843.
Scherlinck said the shooter used a long gun — either a rifle or a shotgun — and was a former employee of one of the offices inside the building. The shooter might have been fired as recently as a week ago, police said.
LaCalamita was listed as part of the professional staff on the Web site of Gordon Advisors, a public accounting and business consulting firm in the building where the shooting took place.
Police said they were not sure whether the gunman still was inside the building two hours after the shootings.
Police at first told workers to stay in their offices but a short time later evacuated the 170,000-square-foot building, which houses a number of businesses, including law offices and a State Farm insurance office.
The office building is about 15 miles north of Detroit.
