Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. Just because they disagree with you passionately does not mean your opinion is not welcome. I encourage you to keep posting your opinion. Since i have been discussing politics on message boards, nearly 4 years now, my positions have evolved greatly. Some issues i became more conservative on, some issues more liberal, some more libertarian. I think if you stick with it you will find the same thing will happen.
Lets get one thing straight here: I don't support everything the President has done-in regards to many things. However, many people on this board subscribe to the incorrect assumption that he is to blame for every single thing that happens in this country, and by proxy, the world.
No one man is responsible for these problems. Maybe Bush did appoint the wrong people to certain positions. Maybe he did other things wrong. Isn't this human nature? Who on this board can say they have never screwed up? You're a liar. I said it in jest, but its true that if people could find some way to blame Bush for "Global Warming" they certainly would. I guess its also human nature to have to have somebody to blame for everything.
He is not to blame for every single bad thing that happens in this country. However if there is a federal responsibility and the person he appointed fucks up, he shares responsibility for that fuck up. Just as one example we can look at Katrina. Yes, there were massive failures on the state level. Those were not George Bush's problem. George Bush's problem comes from staying on vacation an extra two days, appointing "brownie" the pony show judge to direct FEMA, then after brownie fucks up he says "doin heck of a job brownie". At that point it shows an incredible lack of judgement and a lack of leadership. He should have ended his vacation, fired brownie, and acted quickly because people in his/our country were dying. It is not about never screwing up, it is about accountability and how he reacts after screwing up.
To motivez: Its not "Bush's war" since no president can go to war without a majority of the House and Senate vote. Are you trying to imply that we did? And what about the Democratic majority for the last couple of years? Why have they done nothing about the war but spew partisan rhetoric? Because they know deep down its the right thing to be there. I agree with you that an exit strategy has not been thought of. Or if it has it certainly hasn't been implemented properly. Do you honestly think I like going to the desert for a few months? No thanks. Its not very fun over there. So if you for one minute seem to think I am not fully invested in the outcome of this war think again. Maybe thats what some people on this thread need to start doing. Start thinking about what you are saying. Maybe Bush planned 9/11? Is that the next thing to come out of some of your mouths?
They voted to give him the authority to go to war. They did not declare war. He chose to use that to send our military in to battle in Iraq. The democratic "majority" is only good for one thing, the lead positions on committees. They do not have enough majority to accomplish anything because they can't override a veto. Bush did not plan 9/11 and 9/11 has nothing to do with Iraq, nor did Iraq have anything to do with those who attacked us on 9/11. Al Qaeda is only there now after the removal of Saddam. It is very much his war, along with Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle, etc. I would encourage you to look in to the group PNAC, what their foreign policy ideas have been since 1998, and look at the member list and their positions in our government.
