| Thinking about selling the car for a truck. I've been debating off and on for the past few months about selling my 1997 Z28 for a newer Silverado. Just thought I'd post about it here and get some opinions. The Silverado would be a '99-01 5.3L Silverado Z71, preferably a ext cab short bed but I might settle for a reg cab long bed, with around 100k, less than 130k for sure. I'd be looking at spending ~ $7,500 on the truck. Here are my thoughts. Car: I could sell it for about $5,500-5000. If I keep it I will be spending another grand or so just getting it the way I want it (installing exhaust/spoiler etc) I can also sell the parts I have for it for almost $1000. So that puts me at about $6,500 plus I'll have saved the grand I was going to spend on modding it. Pros of buying a truck: - Won't drive it as hard, speed, etc. - Can drive it in the winter rather than borrowing one of dad's cars. - Won't feel the need to modify it. - Newer (slightly more reliable) Neutralities: - Gas millage would be about the same. - Insurance should be close to the same, I'll be calling on it Wednesday. Cons: - Automatic (And no I'm not buying a manual truck unless it's a shitbox s10 to beat the hell out of) - $$$, It's more exspensive than my current car. Discuss. Pic of said truck(s): Pref. Mineral Grey, Navy Blue, or Black.

| And I'd probably be selling my camaro in the next month or two and driving my dads truck (1996 Silverado 5.0L 2wd w/ 182k miles on it, runs GREAT!) for a few months until I find one I like. And trey / economics crew this is factoring in expenditures AND still having a good 1.5-2.5k in savings by the time I leave for College in August. | ||||

| Yeah, but it's going to be hard to find a nice Z71 ext cab for the price I'm looking. I'll have to keep a GOOD eye out and pick up a deal. I see niiice regular cab z71's going for $7,500-$8000 every day of the week. I don't know if I could sacrafice 2wd for a ext cab. | ||||

| My dad has a 99 z-71 regular cab silverado for sale. It has 107k miles on it, new BFG all-terrain tires on it, and it is in great condition. Runs great, did all the proper maintenance, etc. He also owns two carwashes so it/is was always clean. I think he wants like 9 or 10 for it. | ||||
