I mean... this is EXACTLY why I made this thread at all. That attitude is unacceptable. If they said "we will not offer ANYTHING for X" then it would be supplied for by other means... And if they are offering piss-poor testing for food/medicine for animals, then how do we know they are doing the best that we need for our foods and medicines? I'm sure you'll say "there's a difference between animals and humans" but it's the SAME GROUP doing the testing. If they are doing just enough to get by, then we are all potentially fucked. And as I said before, without them we'd be put in a position where our demand would give us the best quality for our money. Currently it's just a $10 billion a year service that we pay for, but have no control over.

| I agree with that. Most services by the government should be privatized. | ||||

There is a SLIGHT avenue of exception... in that you can have an extra certifiable aspect of an industry, but at that point you're fulfilling a demand of people who are elite about that item. If the FDA didn't exist, there would be MANY private certifying organizations and virtually everything would have SOME sort of certification on it... and they would advertise how they check for this and that and you should look for their seal of approval for whatever reason. That is a check system based on demand because those companies would get money for what they do, and the better job they can do, the more money they get. Seriously. SIMPLE economics.
