| Sudan has a militant regime that has become powerful enough to infest government and slaughters its own people. If we went in and removed them we'd have the same issues we're seeing now in Iraq.

| US army should withdraw from Iraq immediately because it is nothing more than an invasion force. | ||||

| If we did it right now yes I agree. But that doesn't mean the US has to take the primary role on Sudan. We could have managed Iraq much differently than we have so far. The problem is that we have done a horrible job in Iraq, we have the ability to do better but for political reasons and stubborness on both sides we have not. | ||||

| The problem is the belief that the commanders on the ground are capable of "winning" the war. This simply is not the case, it will require a political solution between warring factions in Iraq. | ||||

Does he not hear that? By not compromising Bush could play into the hands of the real liberals - calling for an immediate withdrawal - because about 2/3 of the US today think we should get out of the war. | ||||

| I don't think that President Bush is ignoring that a political solution is needed, but in fact he is trying to promote one by the "surge" providing greater security and stability to Baghdad and the Green Zone, which he believes provides the environment in which a political solution can develop. I personally question the success of this line of thinking and believe it is another neocon dream that will not come to fruition... I just don't think that it is enough to make it happen at this point, after so much bloodshed between the Sunni and Shiah; though this may have worked a few years ago before the massive increase in sectarian violence. | ||||
