If CG was a private catholic school, I could understand, but wtf is her problem. And baking brownies and rice crispies does not make up for it, way to try and justify yourself as a good teacher while underhandedly looking for complements on your cooking. No quarrel on you qualifications as a writer, but as a teacher, don't be surprised on inspiring the first cg shooting.

I also find it ...... ironic/stupid/bullshit/etc ........ that the instructions included "write whatever comes into your mind" and "do not judge or censor what you are writing" and he did exactly that (and made no real threats) but got arrested for it.

I have said multiple times in this thread that I don't know if what he did was arrest worthy. But it was worthy of questioning at least.

I disagree, something expressed in creative writing shouldn't constitute a threat if it is not termed as one or there isn't any additional evidence to indicate it.

If that's what the kid wrote, then we should be arresting him for poor grammer and improper use of acronyms in a education setting.

This is a poor paper, lacking characterization or any real plot lines.

I would write in my red pen:

Student:

It was a nice try being disturbing. But no one should take you seriously until you re-write with grammatical errors corrected as well as taking the time to spell out "WHAT THE FUCK" instead of a lame internet lingo. So far Webster's did not place that in the dictionary.

He may have been an honor student, but he needs to mentoring with Creative Writing, because if I was a teacher (which I will be one day) I would throw that back at him and make him re-write it.

You have to read the instructions they were given. They were told to just write what came to them continuously. They were instructed not to pause for misspellings, bad sentences etc. Just keep writing even if the only thing they wrote was "blah, blah, blah...."

Schools these days have a "no tolerance" policy for any kind of violence or threats of violence. I guess they saw this paper as a threat of violence.

It was supposed to be stream-of-consciousness... his instructions specifically said to NOT correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. If his thought changed mid-sentence he was supposed to just stop writing and that thought and start writing the new thought. He was told to NOT cross out, NOT erase, NOT censor his thoughts...... he was TOLD NOT TO CENSOR HIS THOUGHTS in the instructions for the assignment.

His teacher, the administration, the police....all should be ashamed of themselves.

is this really any different than a cop saying "go whatever speed you want, don't worry about it" and then giving someone a ticket for speeding?
