Hillary makes post on racist blog

Firedoglake - Firedoglake weblog » Equal Pay, Equal Respect

The FireDogLake blog is the blog that made headlines during the 06 elections. When Democrats weren't making racist statements and throwing Oreos at black Republicans they were attacking Lieberman.

FireDogLake is responsible for this little gem:

Hillary Clinton used the blog to make a feminist post over female pay not being up to par with the pay of males by making a blanket statement that men on average make more than women. She conveniently excludes any raw data that shows pay for the same work. Regardless of her exaggerated assumptions of male - female pay in this country, is this really the venue for a politician to promote themselves on?

First could you imagine the outrage if a conservative blogger did a blackface of a liberal? Secondly could you imagine the outcry if McCain or another Republican used that venue to do a question/answer and to promote their presidential campaign? I believe it would have made network news. I believe this is a wrong move for Hillary. I don't think any candidate should be promoting themselves on a website that does racist things. In the light of the Imus controversy you'd think Hillary would have more tact. She condemns Imus for his remarks, but then promotes herself on this racist blog. I wonder if the media will care.

The whole blog is racist because of one picture they posted last year?

I looked around and it didn't seem like a racist site.

Imus was racist for one comment...

It is a blog that came to media attention in the past for a racist post. Now Hillary is using it to help her campaign. Is that not unethical?

Would it be unethical for her to take a dump in the same stall where Gacey took one?

It's a blog. They do interviews and such. I don't really see what the big deal is, but that's just me.

[edit] and I don't think Imas was racist over one comment. Just to clarify.

If it was the home of a man who made national news for racist political speech and she went to his bathroom to hold a campaign activity there, then yes I would say it would be inappropriate.

Has Rush shown clear signs of racism or just conservatism? That's like saying any liberal who gets interviewed by Olbermann or Air America is bad. I'm not saying that. It's one thing to be radical. It's another to show clear signs of racism and using those outlets to promote yourself shortly after the Imus fiasco that you publicly denounced. In fact she refuses to go on Imus because of his Rutgers comments. It makes you wonder how sincere she really is.

:yep:

I can't stand hillary just as much as the next guy but even I'd say we should judge her by the content of the post she made and not the site she made it on.

It's not like her feminist claim is unfounded, the study came out, she's talking big picture, and she's right. She only telling us what we are already being told, and I think it's fine for her to want to make that an issue, because it is one.

Who cares where it's interviewed, I can think of skankier publications.

I hate having to sort through this junk...

1) Imus is not racist over one comment

2) FDL is a huge community with shifting main page posters, you can't pin this on someone in particular, and as said it was a year ago...and it was a poor attempt to paint the OTHER side as racist, not as an attack on blacks

3) While there's no recording of it, early in Rush's career various sources have reported he told a black caller to get the "bone out of your nose"

Also, he constantly replays the song of "Barak the Magic Negro" that has caused widespread emotional distress for black employees at stations that play Rush

So, since Cheney shows up there, the WH is racist

This is ridiculous, we all know Clinton had no idea what FDL's ENTIRE POST HISTORY WAS, and her post was simply the only "liberal" blog that would take her as Markos, Stoller, Atrios and the other majors have hit her hardcore over her actions

4) If Black democrats want to throw oreos at black republicans, that is an inter-racial debate and you have no right to judge them, Steele's extremely poor performance among black voters in MA and his loss to a terrible Dem campaigner (nice Senator though) show how the black community feels about where his true values lie, and I'm not going to call the majority of blacks in maryland racist, but you can go right ahead
