| What is the problem? I have just read that a Pennsylvania woman has been denied a teaching degree because a My Space photo was found of her at a Hallowe'en party two years ago. The picture showed her drinking something and the caption said 'Drunken Pirate'. Her university contends that through this picture, she encourages underage drinking.
Am I missing something? Is she punished because she was apparently willing to present herself on MySpace in that way? If so, while they're at it, maybe the university should reprimand her for encouraging underage piracy. In any case, the woman has apologised for the appearance of the photo.
Must all of us now fear for our jobs or our reputations, because someone might snap us (there is not much to stop an enterprising camera from catching us just about anywhere), then post us on the web?
The victim has taken legal action. Best of luck to her. |
