I would go Bulldog then.

I'm in a similar situation and thinking about getting a dog. Bulldog seems to fit the lifestyle.

Stay away from a terrier if you don't have a yard. They tend to eat things when they are bored and some bark like mad.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My friend growing up had one of these. Once of the coolest dogs i've ever seen.

This or a Bulldog are what i'm looking at right now.

Medium size is fine, and I don't want a lazy/inactive breed either (I'd plan to be active with it obviously), just something that doesn't absolutely need a yard and doesn't bark a ton.
dauschund?, from what I hear/have seen great dogs, but it will pee and poop in your place more than other breeds

This doesn't need a yard and doesn't bark a ton

I wouldn't suggest a StaffyBull at all. They are VERY active dogs.

I've had a dachsund all my life but once potty trained, they won't do anything different than any other dog. Brutus is currently about 11

get a female dachsund and that's a pretty easy dog to have IMO
