I found this interesting... (CNN) -- Pulling U.S. forces from Iraq could trigger catastrophe, CNN analysts and other observers warn, affecting not just Iraq but its neighbors in the Middle East, with far-reaching global implications. Sectarian violence could erupt on a scale never seen before in Iraq if coalition troops ...

| Even CNN is saying we can't leave Iraq too soon... I found this interesting...
While I agree there needs to be some new incentives and some sort of timeline public or private in Iraq simply pulling out at an arbitrary time is ridiculous. We will have to maintain a small presence in the country for probably a decade or more. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks as politicians in DC try to make political decisions with our troops and the stability of a region on the line. | ||||

| The problem really is how long will the US public allow soldiers to die in a far-away nation for something they don't understand. If public pressure builds enough, the government will be forced to withdraw, regardless of consequences | ||||

| A lot of news organizations are coming down on the Democrats for this. There seems to be two types of people in this country: those who want to tough it out a bit longer in Iraq and those who want our troops home quickly and safely. This legislation is a compromise of sorts to get votes, not to do what's best for the country. It was a middle of the road appeasement that the Democrats thought would go over well with America, since the end result was troops come home. But a year away is too long for the bring the "troops home now crew" to justify all the crap they added to the bill as well as all the horrible politics surrounding it. So in the end not many people are satisfied with their bill, they don't see it as a means of bringing our troops home quickly or as a means of properly fighting the war. They're attempting to shoot for a compromise, but I think America and the media is telling the Democrats they can't compromise in war. You either fight it or you don't. This unethical bill and all the crap they have in it isn't going to fly. | ||||

| I didn't think it was that unethical, but maybe that is just when compared with invading Iraq in the first place. Certainly there are down sides to the proposed actions, and I doubt the problem is as easily solvable as some imply. | ||||

| the "unethical pork" was put into a seperate bill on its own and passed with 300 votes...so much for "buying votes" A bill with no pork got a majority on an attempted compromise that is still criticized by some What's the line about "even CNN" I don't think one post here has even come close to showing a cable news service that is less bias than CNN Love the bit about "two types of americans"...yes, those who want yet another year or so in Iraq while American troops die, and those who want to move the soldiers out of a civil war before they get killed, and giving families around america hapiness that their loved one is alive and not dead because they were forced in Iraq without even a full break | ||||
