| Right where he belonged and anybody from the Tri-State area will tell you they wouldn't have wanted any other mayor in charge of that city during that tragic event. He did an amazing job.

| I do remember hearing about how he was warned to move the emergency command center out of the WTC after the first bombing, but he didn't listen. He was roaming the streets because he had no place to go. | ||||

| Well not everyone is from the Tri-State area. His approval rating jumped like 45% overnight. The media hailed him as America's Mayor. Liberal news outlets have taken their cheap shots at him, but everyone from this area thinks he did a phenomenal job... which is why he is still a popular person considering he was only a mayor and hasn't been in office for 6 years. In 2001 he was named Time's person of the year. His term was supposed to expire a couple weeks after Sept 11, but he immediately asked for an extension and the upcoming mayor was more than willing to allow him to stay. Rudy took charge of the emergency the entire time until his extension ended. He was the man behind all the great things that happened in NYC after Sept 11th. My entire family is liberal, I have family members who are NYC police officers... they all think Rudy was the best for the job. Every person in this area I know thinks he did an amazing job. The rest of the nation has their own opinion, but they weren't directly effected by his work. Last edited by JaJae; 05-05-2007 at 12:29 PM. | ||||

| So did Bush's. In times of crisis, especially when facing an external threat, people will rally around their leaders. No shock there. The intent of my post wasn't to seriously question where he was on 9/11, it was a joke though... | ||||

| Everyone seems to think he was a horrible mayor during 9/11. That couldn't be further from the truth. Some people may disagree with his term as a mayor, but just about everyone from this area agrees what he did in NYC after 9/11 was nothing short of a miracle. He kept that city afloat and did an absolutely amazing job in the aftermath of 9/11. I can't think of a single politician who I feel could have done a better job. | ||||

And approval ratings? His approval ratings were in the toilet on Spet. 10th. The guy also has mob ties and waged a war on the homeless. He's a one trick pony who shouldn't even be a mayor again.

Previous mayors allowed them to sleep right on the walkways and defecate literally wherever they wanted. Rudy was the first person to come in and change that. He cleaned up the city, created times square, got the kids back in the schools, essentially turned NYC into a clean and safe city for tourism.
What he did after 9/11 was all over the news. He led the rescue operations, organized the cleanup, shut down the city, organized supplies and food... etc etc etc Basically everything people complain didn't happen during Katrina, Rudy got done quickly, efficiently and properly after 9/11. There's a lot you can fault Rudy for doing, he did a lot of unpopular things in NYC, but his work immediately after 9/11 is not something to criticize him for or even joke about.
