I think you have to weight which story holds more logic and reason. Some kid's blog or the story that's out in the media and will be fought in court. The boy left a lot of information out as to why they wanted to search, etc. One side is clearly bending the situation, yet the other side is the one that is distrusted.

Seems the story has been removed. People commenting are saying the police report is up now and his story doesn't match. AT first all the replies were in his favor now they aren't

I do think the kid is probably hiding something, but I also don't trust law enforcement to be impartial. To often they are convinced of guilt even if evidence is circumstantial or new evidence arises that contradicts initial findings.

Edit: Well there you go, it looks much more like he was lying. Not easy to avoid the pesky cognitive biases

And too often when people stand up and bitch about the cops trying to screw them for no reason they leave off some details that show it's not for "no reason."

No doubt, but I'd like to be able to trust law enforcement, I don't feel I need to trust Joe Citizen.

More often than not, I do. It is just sometimes they can be so unreasonable about situations, like arresting people for creating a level that looks like a school and claiming a hammer is a likely weapon.

Well that depends on the current news and buzz, but unless the crime is media-worthy then often you don't hear about it.

I guess it is a natural reaction to a powerful authority clamping down on a someone weaker

i was pretty much a good kid except for a few instances....

bringing rum to study hall in 10th grade
flipping my inept history teacher off because he didn't like the fact that I corrected his incorrect history lesson......

maybe sneaking into the woods on school property a couple times to smoke....

all in all not that big of a deal...

i never did do any drugs.
