So if the tables were turned it would be better? Or?

The people vote for the ideas they want to see implemented in our society, no one agrees with everything. I don't think having different ideas about what the proper role is makes anyone stupid though.. which was the main point.

Well I don't think voting yourself others peoples money, or other peoples property, or shuting them up when you don't like their opinions is stupid. But I will be damned if I will sit quietly while they try to do it.

We do have a Constitution to protect individuals from certain types of popular ideas and that goes for both parties!

Big stretch. Who cares what bloggers think? Who cares what Kos (even though I haven't heard anything from him directly) thinks...it's not like he said "OMG I WILL VOTE FOR HIM!!!!" The fanboys are trying way too hard.

Dr. Paul is probably my favorite conservative, though I have 2 democrats i'd pick over him. If neither democrat gets nominated and Paul does, I'll vote for Paul in 08.

He makes his livelihood off his liberal status of electing Democrats...you phrase it as if it's some sort of quasi-insult

He believes the Democratic Party is the only thing that can stop back the Republican onslaught, the ends justify the means

Against the drug war? Check.

Not under the thumb of the religious right? Check.

What's there not for a progressive to like? I'd vote for him. Seems he's got his shit together, IMHO.

I think that's a ridiculous statement, FEMA under Clinton responded to huge disasters in record times and with huge satisfaction, and the national guard saved many lives

Your whole opinion in fact, makes me wince, with what, I can't say

Yes, and when he appoints Scalia-judges and the courts allow all sorts of atrocities to occur, then you'll be sorry

The government was weakened by Iraq and other things so that in domestic disaster relief to natural disaters...it was smaller, and that caused deaths

The big three disasters, that Bush saw: 9/11, the "big one" in LA, and NO hurricane

If he had put in a bigger government presence, it wouldn't have been such a clusterfuck...again, FEMA under Clinton proved that FEMA can work!

Not only that, but the President plays a major role in determining the political climate of the nation. It also gives him prime real estate to sell his libertarian ideals and if America likes them (or conservatives) the politicians will be forced to support them.

And if nothing else he will act as a wall to prevent the country from going down the slippery slope both parties have been harping down. That alone would be a wonderful feat and wouldn't make him a lame duck.

You do realize that Paul's various ideas have much support from both Democrats and Republicans, depending on the issue?

You do realize this, right?

More importantly many of his ideas will likely catch on with the American public.
