Can you prove God exists?

Many of you may remember the video where Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort made this hilarious video to prove God's existence:

I watched it on onegoodmove: I thought these things might be clues

And commented that it was overall a bad debate, neither of the teams were en pointe or neither of the teams showed a remarkable knowledge or higher-than-average intelligence, in the general sense.

Who put these 4 morons (2 atheists vs. 2 Christians) on a TV news debate.

Actually, bananas in the jungle don't look anything like the bananas we farm. The reason bananas are so ergonomic is certainly because they were intelligently designed ... by us!

edit: Also, I had posted about this on LAOT. I'll copy/paste my post here........

ABC to Air LIVE Atheist Debate with Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort

When ABC ran a story in January about hundreds of atheists video-taping themselves blaspheming the Holy Spirit, best-selling author Ray Comfort contacted the network and said that he could prove God’s existence, absolutely, scientifically, without mentioning the Bible or faith. He said that he and Kirk Cameron (Comfort and Cameron co-host an award-winning Christian TV program) would like to challenge the two originators of the “Blasphemy Challenge” to a debate on the existence of God. He told ABC that he and Cameron (an ex-atheist) qualified to debate on the subject.

He added that not only had he written a book called God Doesn’t Believe in Atheists, but he had spoken at Yale on the subject of atheism, and had been flown by American Atheists, Inc., to be a platform speaker at their 2001 annual convention.

ABC loved the idea, and so the debate will be in New York City, and will be streamed LIVE on their website on May 5th 2007, as well as being filmed for Nightline.

Kirk Cameron (sitcom “Growing Pains” and “Left Behind” movies) will speak on what he believes is a major catalyst for atheism--Darwinian evolution. The popular actor said, “Evolution is unscientific. In reality, it is a blind faith that’s preached with religious zeal as the gospel truth. I’m embarrassed to admit that I was once a naïve believer in the theory.” He will also reveal what it was that convinced him that God did exist.

Comfort added, “Most people equate atheism with intellectualism, but it’s actually an intellectual embarrassment. I am amazed at how many people think that God’s existence is a matter of faith. It’s not, and I will prove it at the debate--once and for all. This is not a joke. I will present undeniable scientific proof that God exists.

“But there is something more sinister here than a few people not believing in God. Why would so many be so bitter against Christianity in particular? Why aren’t they making videos that blaspheme Buddha or Mohammed or Ghandi? We made our own video clip and posted it on HollywoodandGod.com to expose why.”
So the guys that Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort are going to be debating are members of the infamous militant atheist group, "The Rational Response Squad." To give you guys an idea of how horrible these kids are, I'll fill you in on my history with them...

Okay, during my quest for Biblical contradictions a while back (I'm sure plenty of you remember those days. ), I came across the Rational Response Squad (RRS). Well, I started paying attention to them to see how they were, and I found that they were a little too militant for my taste, but whatever. As it turns out, a few of their members posted in the same forum as me, and I eventually happened across one of their live shows (they have an Internet radio show). So I go in and I start trying to get these guys to take a couple of deep breaths and relax. Long story short, they accuse ME of being a fundamentalist Christian (yes, you read that right). Remember the peak of my militant days here? These guys are a bajillion times worse.

So it's these guys that are going to be speaking on the behalf atheists on a Live ABC broadcast. It's sickening. These guys have absolutely nothing to bring to atheism's image in America. It's clear the media is beginning to see that as a wonderful way of showing how "intolerant and hateful" atheists are. I have a feeling this will reinforce the negative stereotype that we are bitterly cynical people who are just mad at God.

Don't get me wrong, though, the Christians that they're up against aren't exactly bright shining stars either. This the same duo that "proves" God's existence because they can hold a banana in the same manner in which they hold a cock (or was it coke?).

I haven't watched the entire debate yet, but it will be airing on Nightline tonight at 8pm (IIRC).

embarrassing to watch.

... and since science posits a Big Bang and expanding universe theory, it irritates me that the 'infinite' model and first law of thermodynamics is used, but anyway.

Yeah, I was pretty taken back by the fact that they said, "Well why can't the universe be infinite????" It's pretty well known that the universe isn't infinite, so that was kind of a silly thing for the RRS to fall back on.

I will say that they were significantly better than I was expecting. They did okay. I listened to the girl (Kelly) for about twenty seconds, then I muted it and stared at her tits for minute ... then I just skipped to the next part. Sapient, though, he really surprised me. I have a newfound respect for that guy. He's still kinda weak in the debates, but he seems to have potential. He carried himself far more professionally than Kelly did. She was very condescending and immature.

Anyway...
Here's the entire debate:

Here is the official response from the two atheists (where they declare themselves victorious):

Here is Ray Comfort's response (where he declares himself victorious):

PS-
The debate was pretty much what I expected with the exception of the host. That guy was really cool, and definitely the most professional person up there.
