Z100 is a local music station here in the Tri-State Area. They do a lot of phone taps like this one, but none quite as emotionally charged

They normally play the latest in popular music, no particular genre other that what's on the top of the charts at the time.

My wife's college roomie knew the morning DJ in Springfield Mass and she made extra cash by doing these pranks. The DJ would call her and say "make up a story about .................. and I'll call you in a while." Then she and her friend would make up some stupid phone prank story and the DJ would call her and she and her friend would do the prank like she was surprised and the DJ would pay her.

what I meant was "real" situations... if it's a prank then it should be real. If it's contrived and scripted/acted out then it's not very funny.

if I call you and ask to talk to my g/f and name your wife and you freak out, that's funny.

if I call you and say "I'm going to call you back and pretend to ask for my g/f and name your wife and I want you to freak out" and we do that and record it, that's not funny.

those people would have had to approve of that being aired..... you think they would have approved of showing their bigotry to their friends/family/community/neighbors/city if it was real?

I don't know it was fake, just like you don't know it was real. I'm guessing it was fake based on past experience.

I shouldn't have said they *have* to approve. But again, from past experience they *probably* had to agree to let it air. If *YOU* call a radio station you are agreeing to allow your voice on the air. If *THEY* call *YOU* then they (usually) get your permission to avoid legal trouble.

7960 you are flatly, wrong. I listen to the Z-Morning-Zoo at work, they do these pranks and phone taps multiple times per week. They are not fake.
