You think Katrina was bad, it wont hold a candle to a storm making landfall as a 4 or 5 storm.

But New Orleans isn't the only place you can say these types of things about. Why the hell do we have major cities built over a fault line (san andreas) that has been there for thousands of years? New York City is on an island supplemented by landfill. Half of Florida is built on swampland and destroyed every few years by hurricanes. Hawaii is a volcano. You can look back and second guess a lot of cities at this point. If the levies were built properly, we would have NEVER had this issue in New Orleans.

The levies were maintained by the state and funded by the federal government, and the state spent the money on tourist attractions. Not only is it not the federal government's responsibility to provide money for levies for a state, it is the state's responsibility to use the money they do get for such purposes as intended.

Yeah and if California dropped all those stupid ads to come visit their state (like enough people aren't already) maybe I wouldn't have to spend so much when there's federal disaster relief in a wildfire/earthquake/whatever

Let's go around and say how every state is stupid so we can feel good that since LA asked for federal money for levies and didn't get it, its cool because they didn't take money out of all of the programs that keep the state running to build a better levie system
