NC and VA might be the next Michigan and Iowa as they become more Blue

In 2000, it was considered that Bush had a real possibility of winning Michigan and should win a rural state like Iowa...but times have changed and a polarized nations has drawn lines, now it was a shoe in that the Michigan Democrat would be re-elected or that Kerry would win Michigan...while Dems made impressive seat gains in Iowa which democratic-dominated now

In VA, the most popular politician is Mark Warner and he can have either the governors mansion or senate seat if he wants, making it a solid Blue senate state

NC has Liddy Dole's approval down down down, and look at how well the Democrats have done in NC:

Democratic Governor
Democratic House
Democratic Senate
Democratic US House majority (7-6 with Kissell losing by 300 votes or it would be 8-5)
Democratic Lt. Governor
Democratic Sec. State
Democratic Att. General
Democratic Comm. Insurance
Democratic Sup. Public Instruction (Sec. Education)
Democratic Treasurer
Democratic Supreme Court

Dems made congressional gains in 2006 and almost won with Kissel, a teacher with barely any funding in a red-district

States like Alabama may be lost, but even as the GOP becomes a regional party of the South, states like VA and NC look to be going Blue

Yep. I think I live in the only district that went to Kerry in '04.. but since then the area and the people have become much more frustrated with the GOP in general
