| So I am fasting So I am almost through with day 2 of a water fast. Basically, I am doing nothing but water for 7-10 days. Doing it for many reasons, but the biggest is to clean my body of the garbage I have been putting into it over the past couple of years. Thought I would post my thoughts on the whole event. Day 1: Easy. Slept most of the day to try and avoid the hunger pains and whatever else might creep up. Over all, not bad. Day 2: Ugh. Stomach grumbling here and there for some food. Headaches are the worst part at this time. No doubt from the lack of glucose and my body trying to switch over energy sources. So far, lost 10 pounds in just about 48 hours. I expect that to taper off to 1 or 3 pounds a day. Also monitoring my heartrate and bloodpressure, which are holding steady at 55 bpm and 120/75. I really want to try a 10 day because I have never done it before. Done 7 and 5 a few times. I hope it gets a little easier or I won't be making it too far at all. Anyone else done this before? | ||||

| Because I am protesting the ill treatment I receive at the hands of the moderators on this forum. I shall not eat until they are all fired or resign. Yes, that's a joke. I am doing this to rid my body of any toxins that have accumulated over the past couple years due to my poor diet. That's the main reason. I have been feeling bleah over the past few weeks and I think it's time to fix that. I am about 15 pounds overweight...(at least above the weight I want to be at for when I play in basketball summer leagues, go to the beach, etc) So basically, I do this every now and then to dump all the toxins and empty out as many fat cells as I can. Once that's done, I slowly build whatever muscle I lose back up (usually about 2% compared to 10% of my fat) by eating healthier and exercising properly. Your fat cells store poisons and toxins as they enter your body. Little bits of garbage collect in your intestines. It's like a spring cleaning per se. I have also heard that your body will attack any tumors and cysts that are hanging around in it's attempt to find energy. Not that I have tumors that I know of...but if it's true, can't hurt. Lastly, it's mentally challenging. When I need to decompress from work and life in general, it's good to do this because you have to sit around and conserve energy, relax, go against your body's cravings and instincts. Most of the nuts that do this go full bore and do enema's and whatever else. I prefer to avoid that crap (literally). Just 7 days of relaxation, focus and willpower. | ||||

| Fair enough, I don't agree with it to lose weight other than in extreme circumstances, though the other reasons are good | ||||

| ok, i occasionally do this the medical advice i've recieved is well different than yours its either red grape juice or barley water not just water, & its 7 litres a day its enemas everyday, the headaches result from your body tring to digest the remaining crap in your gut however many days you do then you go that many day after WITH NO FAT AT ALL I find the practice educational, as you suggest.. I've found it harder to take the mind/body dualism stuff as seriously as before | ||||

As far as the "mind/body" stuff...I think I would care less about it if it was easy. Each time I do it, seems just as hard as the last time.

This takes lots of willpower and I imagine will be pretty tough.

| Bah, cleaning toxins through long periods of fasting is holistic garbage. Intermittent fasting is good for you though. I advocate that. | ||||

| So no food at all for 7-10 days? Seems dangerous to me. Couldn't you faint while walking or worse, driving? I don't know anything about nutrition/medicine type stuff though, I'm just curious. | ||||

I know if I tried to go for more than 10 days, my body doesn't have enough energy sources to sustain me and that's when you move into the starvation category.

| Day 3 went very well I must say. Early issue with my legs feeling like they wanted to cramp, but I fixed that with a pinch of salt in my water. I think my body's PH level was off. No real hunger pains. No headaches. In order to give full disclosure, yes, some nasty stuff comes out of you throughout the day as your body releases toxins into your system and you expel them. But that's life. The only weird thing that needs to be mentioned is that my eyeballs are sore. Nothing wrong with my vision, matter of fact, I seem to be seeing things in HD or something. Maybe it's just my mind playing tricks, but everything seems clearer and sharper today. Go figure. As expected, weight loss slowed down and I ended up losing 2 more pounds today. That makes 12 total. Hope tomorrow goes just as well. | ||||

| I am sorta curious about this now, thinking about a PSMF for dieting purposes because frankly I am far too overweight and all previous attempts to fix the problem failed. | ||||
