actually it's not 18 ways to spell it. it's pronounced On-a. a hard A. not a soft one. it's not a name that other people have. it's a unique name. not Ani, or Ana, or even Ane... Ane'. if I had a microphone, i'd record my voice saying it for you... don't know how else to explain it.

My wife's friend named her child Gaia...all the friends started calling each other asking "how do you pronounce it?" and "is it a boy or girl?" One of them finally called and asked and then called everyone else, so they all didn't call and make her feel bad about picking that kind of name.

btw, it's pronounced "GUY-ya" and it's a girl

Gaia is an okay name for a girl though ... it's the Earth Goddess in Greek mythology. If I heard/saw the name Gaia, I'd assume it was a female.

who said she ever got mad about it? i never said that... just that a lot of people thought it was Ane or Ana..... if you have a unique name, it's going to get mispronounced and misspelled. that's a given.

I didn't. I said I only care when they do. I used to teach and occasionally I'd have an odd name I couldn't pronounce..... Staciu was one.... I think it was polish.
