I have to admit that Memphis scares me too. It's been a good 10 years since I've been there, but I don't remember feeling very safe there the last time I went and I was a kid. I plan on making sure our hotel is in a good area.

We have decided to just cancel Mexico completely and go with this. If our passports end up coming, they end up coming. If not, we'll have our refund in time to use for our little trip. Plus this way the kiddo gets to come, and she'll be very happy about that

We have enough money left over to buy ourselves an inexpensive Garmin GPS, and put a cheapo DVD player in the minivan for the drive too.
To be honest, I think getting to Gatlinburg will be too much...you won't really have enough time to enjoy any one place if you're driving all the time

Just my opinion, but it sounds like a great time!

I am so incredibly pissed off right now. We were told at the time of booking that everything would be refundable if necessary. It was very important that we book with someone who would refund us since we weren't sure what would happen with the pregnancy.

Well, I called to cancel, and they won't refund the $917 for our airfare. I'm on the phone with the airline right now in hopes that I can talk someone into giving us a refund. I'm so pissed.

They are absolutely refusing to refund it. I wonder if I can do a chargeback on my credit card?

My husband's going to kill me. It was nice knowing you all!

they might not refund it, but they have to give you the credit which means you can go somewhere with that airfare within the next year, just pay a change fee... so you dont loose all the money... i know this because i am constantly making travel plans for my boss all the time, and when he has to cancel a nonrefundable flight, they dont just "keep" the money, it's usable for you book another flight within a year.. on the same airline... so that means you are going on vacation next year too!

They are willing to give us a $717 credit (a $200 charge was taken off for cancelling) that has to be used before Feb 20 of 2008. Great, the baby is coming in August, where the heck am I going to go with such a young infant?

i don't think you can sell it cause it's only usable with your names... but call the airline and ask to be sure.

travel with an infant is a good deal. You can visit some out of town family or go on vacation and the kid goes free.

The $100/ticket is the normal charge for changing dates, so they are really offereing you nothing. Demand either a credit for the entire price or a refund of all but $200. This isn't asking too much, so you shouldn't have to try too hard to get it.

I might have run out of supervisors to talk to. I've called twice to the airlines alone today and talked to a 2 different CS reps and 2 different supervisors. Maybe I'm not saying the right things?

Maybe the third time is the charm. This woman says she doesn't know why we would be issued a voucher, and I'm waiting for her supervisor now?

instead of threatening, i would say you know how much they would like to help you and you know they don't do this all the time, but by helping you out of this unpleasant situation, they would ensure a customer for life....

shit like that.
