I think I could ramble off a list of about 943 things just off the top of my head. If they can't think of ONE...then they don't need to be in office. Obviously, they have issues with some things going on in this country or they wouldn't be running for President in an attempt to push their agendas and change things.

You left your sense of humor in the south.

Anyway, if a Republican candidate can't stand up and say "I hate the fact America is a debtor nation to Mexico" then there's no hope. Come on man, there are so many things one could come up with. "I hate the fact America is so reliant on other countries for oil"...

That is what the question said. "What do you dislike the most about America"

They threw it in there to be provactive and maybe get a stammer out of someone. If they wanted to know what they thought America needed to be better then they could have asked that. It was a silly, childish question.

What do you dislike about america and do you dislike america are two seperate things. You seem to be linking them as the same.

And if you want to get technical or smart assed you could have asked the moderator of the debate "north or south?"

I thought it was a prefect question because the Republicans always portray themselves as patriotic and America is super greg number one, the best, etc, etc, but reality is that we're not #1 in everything, we are behind many other nations in education, health care, energy independence, and so on and so forth..

They should have the vision and strength to be able to peer from behind that curtain of GOP rhetoric and admit that there's stuff we need to fix. I think this is why Obama has such great appeal to a lot of people despite his inexperience, he talks like he has a vision for a better country..

Yeah, about America, as in something specific, not "Do you dislike America?" as a whole..

If Fox news asks them tonight "What do you love most about America" will you think that is a bad question?

Again, having a question with "dislike" and "America" in it was just put in for reaction. No one was looking for a real answer, they just wanted to see how they reacted. And I think Romney did well.

I'd think it's a softball and a much worse question because it doesn't reveal anything about the candidates.

The entire idea of a debate is to familiarize America with who they are, what they want to do as President, and what makes them better than the guy standing next to them.

You don't learn that by letting them repeat talking points, you learn it by hearing what they really think about stuff they're not prepared to answer.

Absolutely not. I don't particularly care what questions are asked...softballs or not. Matter of fact, I would rather like to see the harder questions.

Well that's all part of the "debate" setup isn't it? You want to hear their answers as well as see their body language and how they react? What was it you guys said about Gore or Kerry a few years ago that he was a "robot" and said something like "um" a bunch of times? That's what people want to see...how do they act in the spotlight when a more difficult question is posed to them.

Ahh NYC isn't all about traffic, your near one the train lines take it, I work and play out there (omg I'm a one of those "elitist blue stater" ), its great, but if you drove it would suck though

Well, it was good to know the Republicans weren't afraid of some liberal questions thrown their way. Unlike the Democrats

Yeah I know. I took the train last time into NY and had a really good time. But it was with some cooworkers that live here. I'm at a customer site by myself this time and don't really have anyone to hang with.

I was in San Fran a few months ago and tooled all over there to see the sites because I had never been. It doesn't really bother me to not go into NY this time around.

I usually don't have an issue with you but you just called me a name which I can technically wipe out your entire family for.

Brit Hume said that the problem is letting the candidate have enough time to have his or her say but not drag on too long. Some people don't want to hear the long answers that often stray from the question while others want to hear more of what the candidate is thinking as you suggest.
