yeah, the grassroots that won key elections in states across the country in 2006, its been confirmed and never denied, even anonymously, about the grassroots effect

Also, a lot of people tuned in to fox that wouldn't because of the debate, actually not a lot, but the people desperate enough to text message who they think "won" its clear that libertarians just went nuts on it as much they could...similiar things happened on liberal blogs where Kucinich, who isn't even liked by many liberals, suddenly gets like 80% of the vote, but they have ways of straining things and show it was just people spamming

Can you people stop saying "poll" without an antecedent? It's not a real poll anymore than American Idol

Fox News wasted a lot of time on softball questions that everyone answered the same except Paul, or sometimes Rudy, and in the end everyone looked worse, even Romney, it was a crumby debate, if they walk out of that thinking "wow, im so much more informed now!" unless they are Pauliacs, they should have just read the campaign website and gotten the same info

Hannity and the other anti-paul "conservatives" will use Rudy's sound bite for months and stuff paul in the ground with it. I dont care what the post debate poll shows...the people will be brainwashed even further than they already are.

He never had mine to begin with and I find it hilarious how so-called Conservatives like Hannity can support candidates like Rudy, Romney, or McCain with a straight face. It seems most "conservatives" have lost their mind since 9/11. To extend Paul's correct comment in the debate, our foreign policy is to blame for 9/11 and, in many ways, the terrorists have won. Our country is in a sorry state. I am sick of this "anti-patriotic" knee jerk reaction that happens when anyone suggests a differing opinon about Iraq or 911. I think you are right - Hannity is going to play Paul's comments over and over on his radio show because he views Paul as a threat.

You are certainly free to express this view, but I don't think it carries much weight in either party. It goes well beyond the Iraq post 9/11 issue and if that action, and only that action, should have taken place or not.

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE RON PAUL CAMPAIGN

Why Hasn’t Rudy Giuliani Read the 9-11 Commission Report?

May 16, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ARLINGTON, VA – During the "First in the South" GOP debate in South Carolina last night, one thing was made clear: Rudy Giuliani does not understand how to keep America safe.

When Congressman Ron Paul, who has long served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, explained how 50 years of American interventionism in the Middle East has helped compromise our national security, Giuliani interrupted saying he had "never heard anything so absurd." This statement is particularly troubling coming from the former mayor who tries to cast himself as a security expert, since Dr. Paul's point comes directly from the bi-partisan 9-11 Commission Report.

"Rudy Giuliani has tip-toed around the issues of abortion, guns and marriage. The only issue he has left is security, and he doesn't even get that right," said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "It is clear from his interruption that former Mayor Giuliani has not read the 9-11 Commission Report and has no clue on how to keep America safe."

I hope someone will put him on TV and give him 10 minutes to completely destroy the validity of Rudy's "protector" image

I still think Rudy will get the upper hand. This story may not get any airtime while Rudy's interruption will.

If Rudy will get the upper hand it will be only because Ron Paul's sound ideas take intelligence to understand, while "they hate us for our freedom" is a pretty 2nd grade way of understanding foreign affairs and the reasons for 9/11. That's why I said that Ron Paul needs the airtime to expand on his views - sound ideas do not make good sound bytes.

Sounds a lot like what people were saying about John Kerry. But in this instance I agree.

In a world of soundbites and slogans, unfortunately the truth is not always good enough. To put it plainly, Paul got politically fucked on this one.

anyway, to the main point, thomez/others...do you at least realize that Ron Paul is screwed, and basically has no chance because of this...no matter how "correct" he is?

edit: thanks Dos

They had him on the Situation Room and he expanded on his statements.

I hate the way they treated Ron. All I'm saying is, it would've been nice if they'd let him complete a thought before interrupting to abuse him.

if he ever got anywhere, they'd replay that scene more than when Bill Clinton said "I did not have sexual relations"

everyone is going to remember Ron Paul saying those correct but radical thoughts, in a *crickets* crowd and then Rudy zinging him back and the audience roars with approval off the charts, as I'm sure the vast majority of GOP primary voters did or would

All it does is prove how beyond retarded and how bad the GOP base really is. They are sheep. The sound bite is killer and Ron is just 'blaming america first'.

The problem isn't whether Ron Paul is right or wrong, it's that we live in a country where a good soundbyte is more important than the facts.

Rudy framed Paul as saying they attacked us on 9/11 because we bombed Iraq for 10 years, he took what he said completely out of context and responded to something Paul "kinda said", but without listening to the overall message.
