| Congrats on the house brother! Screw the idiots that talk about "cookie cutter" homes. They're obviously blind. I live in a neighborhood that was started in the 1950s, my house was built in 1968 and most in my immediate area were built between 1964 and 1975. They look very similar but aren't considered "cookie cutter" because they're not typical looking by today's standards. Drive through any neighborhood that has a fair number of homes from the same era and they all look similar or have little things that they change. Houses unless you're talking true upper class housing (750k and up in our part of the country) is all cookie cutter. Enjoy your home and screw the haters | ||||

| Oh yeah and Motz I agree with you. I'll take living in this part of the country or in NC/SC/KY/TN etc with affordable quality living over living in Cali or Chicago or NY any day of the week. | ||||

| A starter home here in NY is around 300k with about another 6-8k a year in taxes, now if you want luxury like a roof that doesn't leak or a yard or a home that doesn't look like it should be condemned then your around 410K and higher.

| The median house sold in Seattle is around 500k. You can probably find one around 350-400k but they will be around 1500 sq ft two rooms and 1 bath with outdated kitchen and bathrooms on postage stamp lot around 3500 sq ft lot. This is average. This is what I do buy old homes and fix them up so I am always looking for a good starter house around 400 - 450k to fix up and sell for around 700-800k. I have been doing this since 1996. Most nice homes sell around 7-900k. Taxes around 5-7k. Then there are the really nice homes from 1 mill on up to Waterfront at 50 mill. Seattle prices are still lower than CA and specifically San Fran prices. | ||||
