I've read some of Dr Laura's books. I tried the whole "Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" once too. It left me feeling absolutely undervalued and miserable. She advocates women basically being doormats, there to serve their husband and children and not worry about themselves. I know exactly what IminWonderland is talking about

I think in some ways she has some good points. But I also think she takes things to an extreme, and that is what I don't agree with.

No one is always 100% correct about everything and what they say isn't going to work for 100% of the people that try it. You have to take everything with a grain of salt and figure out if that is doable for you.

Jewish people have ethnic traditions, and that's what she's referencing. She said herself that she associates herself with Christians more than Jews. Her ethnicity might be Jewish, but her religion is not Judaism, and she does not adhere to Mosaic, Noahide, or Talmudic law - some of the basic tenets of most denominations of Judaism. She has outright said that she is no longer an Orthodox Jew.

She's not denouncing the thing entirely because she doesn't want to be viewed as an atheist - something she claims she "used to be." It would be bad for her image.

Oh, and I was wrong about her being Christian. She's a "right wing bigot." There, is that better?

ethnically she was 1/2 jewish from her father, but you are not jewish unless your mother was under jewish law, and her mom was was roman catholic. she didn't actually start practicing judisim until she was 49. then she renounced it when she was 56. not much of a jew there at all. dare I say a fair weather jew??????
