It seems as though some were right, I don't believe that any situation will get the approval of Oklahoma's Senators...

However, I seriously doubt Senators like Sanders would block a progressive bill, I think that was symbollic

All this means is that the debate has begun...Some 20 votes are there to mount a filibuster...you'd need 20 more to stop this...for all we know, through compromise you may end up with less than 20 votes against

You never know...maybe they'll fail to get 60 in the end...but it looks promising

I emailed my senators last night about this ordeal. I told them this needed an open honest debate and should NOT be passed unless the entire bill is rewritten.

you realize that having an honest open debate on a bill some senators won't even consider passing is...a contradiction?

They said they would consider passing it as long as amnesty was not in the bill which McCain and Kennedy have made clear they will not remove.

Since only 23 senators voted against starting the debate, with that issue being the center of the legislation, they should not pretend they have any intention of an open and honest debate...they want a closed minded debate with the sole purpose of derailing the bill

Nothing unethical about it, but at least you should have told them the truth, you don't want what you said, you want them to use every legislative and underhanded method to wreck a legislative break through

With regards to this particular piece of legislation, it should not only be derailed but the tracks tore up so it never moves again from where it lands. And from the number of phone calls, e-mails and letters received by members of congress I'm not the only one who was scratching my head wondering what were they thinking?
