Palestinian gunmen ambushed a car carrying a Fox News crew in Gaza City on Monday and kidnapped two of the journalists inside, according to witnesses and Fox. "We can confirm that two of our people were taken against their will in Gaza," Fox News said in a statement.

A Fox employee in Gaza, who declined to give his name because he was not authorized to release information about the incident, said the two kidnapped people were reporter Steve Centanni, a U.S. citizen, and a cameraman from New Zealand.

The men, along with a bodyguard, were parked near the headquarters of the Palestinian security services when two trucks filled with gunmen pulled up and boxed them in, according to the employee. The gunmen took the two out of their sports utility vehicle, which was marked "TV," and drove away, he said.

Major militant groups in Gaza denied having any connection to the abduction, and there was no immediate word of any demands made.

Security officials put police across Gaza on alert to find the gunmen and free the journalists, said Interior Ministry spokesman Khaled Abu Hilal.

"This is not acceptable at all," he said.

Several foreigners have been kidnapped in Gaza in recent months with their abductors demanding jobs from the Palestinian Authority or the release of people being held in Palestinian jails. All those kidnapped have been released within hours without harm.

GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian gunmen kidnapped two foreign journalists working for the Fox News television channel in Gaza on Monday, a witness said.

The witness, a Palestinian who worked with the two journalists, said one of them, a producer, was an American, and the other, whose nationality he did not know, was a cameraman.

In a news report, Fox confirmed two employees had been abducted. It said it did not know who seized them but that "negotiations were under way to secure their release".

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the abduction.

The witness said two vehicles blocked the journalists' transmission truck in the center of Gaza City and a masked man put a gun to a bodyguard's head, forcing him to the ground.

The kidnappers then sped away with the two journalists.

Palestinian police stopped and searched cars. A spokesman for Hamas, the Islamic militant group that leads the Palestinian government, condemned the kidnapping.

Similar incidents in the past in Gaza have ended with the release, usually within hours, of kidnapped foreign journalists or aid workers.

Many of the abductions were carried out by Palestinians pressing a grievance against the Palestinian government or its security forces.

Well that sucks. I hope they're going to be okay, at least historically acording to the article they usually end in release..

This does nothing productive for the cause they're fighting for and is in fact counter productive to having their concerns addressed and taken seriously by the international community.

Somehow I think a lot of people are holding their thoughts on this one and would rather say nothing then what they are really thinking.

I hope they are released unharmed. You're right, them kidnapping reporters will bring a lot less sympathy to their cause.

islamic dudes kidnapping other peeps is about as common as dudes blowing each other up in iraq. not much to say except 'why am i not surprised'

i suspect everyone 'wishes' it was someone else because they're under the impression they'll be returned alive?

a grad student in florida was recently pulled under the ocean by a big sea turtle he was trying to tag. i felt really bad for him and his family. i guess i'm a little more sympathetic...

A war correspondent and their cameraman make the conscious decision to risk death and worse by going into a warzone. I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for them or anyone else who willingly enters an area like that knowing the risks. It's too bad for their families but they knew what they were getting themselves into.

nick berg also made the conscious decision to work in iraq. i felt bad when he had his head cut off too.

i feel bad for anyone that is killed unnecessarily.

Yes because kidnapping is only comitted by Muslims.
