Why did Clinton have 72% approval after America knew he lied to them, yet Bush is 28%

Poll taken right BEFORE impeachment started and people got turned off by the whole process of what our Congress was doing, all that was known at the time was the the GOP was going to vote on impeachment and Clinton clearly lied to the American people and they had quite some time for people to let that sink in...yet they give him 72% approval

Because people don't care about private personal stuff like getting a blowjob, they do care about lying about stuff related to war, spying, torture, politicizing the justice department and prosecutions, civil liberties, etc, etc..

Also has a lot to do with the increasing debt, the unpopular war, lying to further the neocon agenda, not willing to admit mistakes, lying directly to the public, not capturing objective (Bin Laden), sircumventing the law, and sircumventing the constitution of the USA. I am sure I forgot somethings as well.

But see, my confusion comes from the fact:

1) Everyone agreed Clinton lied

2) Not one of your points would stand up on any "moderate" show like oreally or certainly any right wing show

Going around the law? Never did it, everything he did under the power of the presidency

Clinton lying was a very bad thing. He should have been thrown out of office for it.

But taking the nation to war the way he did, that is inexcusable.

1. this is loaded and a long explanantion at the least and to blame it on 9/11 would be misleading at best. A google search can help you out on this one, for example

4. He has also broke hundreds of laws. I saw even on the news today as we start the national seat belt awareness capaign there is a photo of Bush in his truck without a seatbelt on driving around. 5. I guarantee if Bush caught Bin Laden his numbers would see a dramatic spike in popularity.

Simple, people felt the economy and world in general was in great shape under Clinton.

People dont feel the economy is great today even when we are at similar levels. And of course the world news is scary.

because people don't care about -WHAT- Clinton lied about. it doesn't directly affect millions of families. Plus plenty of people could empathize and see themselves doing the same thing if in the same situation I'd bet....
