| Something definitely needs to be done, there have already been 108 murders in Baltimore this year.. that's incredibly high.. but this is the wrong way to go about it. | ||||

| Increase the use of the death penalty. I'm guessing they'll run out of murderers long before they run out of murder victims.

The death penalty has never been an effective way to reduce murder rates. Better policing is.

That said, I don't expect a potential murderer to contemplate more seriously his actions based on a stiffer penalty. The penalty is only if you get caught, and most murders have every intention of getting away with it. How is the solution of "more policing" supposed to work? The police are not Superman and Spiderman. They're there to drink coffee, eat donuts, pull people over for speeding, and draw lines around the bodies of victims. They are not required to magically appear between you and a bad guy when a crime is about to take place. People need to own up and start protecting themselves.

No I wouldn't expect they should have to do that.
