| Pelosi's trip leads to peace plan: Israel wants to renew real Syrian peace talks JERUSALEM - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is exploring the possibility of renewing peace talks with Syria and has indicated he is willing to give up the Golan Heights, a senior Israeli official said Thursday. Israel wants Syria to cut ties with Iran and the anti-Israel militant groups Hezbollah and Hamas, the official said. Olmert spokeswoman Miri Eisin declined comment on whether Israel had made any overtures to Syria. But she said Olmert has repeatedly said he is "in favor of peace with Syria." "But he questions the desire of the present Syrian government to arrive at a resolution and not just participate in a process," Eisin said. Syrian President Bashar Assad recently said he is willing to renew talks with Israel. Israeli officials have dismissed the comments as a tactic to ease his regime's international isolation. Olmert has indicated in closed meetings that Israel would be willing to give up the Golan Heights in talks with Syria, the official said. Olmert weighing peace talks with Syria - Yahoo! News See, look what some friendly talk, and a little prodding towards Israel and Syria can get you...now they are going to sit down and talk about a peace plan...this may be one of the greatest foreign policy achievements by a Speaker of the House | ||||

| That's funny. I don't see Pelosi's name listed anywhere in what you posted or the linked article. | ||||

| This has nothing to do with Pelosi. It has more to do with the break of the ceasefire and infighting within Palestine. Pelosi's trip to Syria was almost 2 months ago. This has absolutely nothing to do with her. Israel's position hasn't changed:

| Israel broke it's ceasefire with Palestine basically the moment Hamas was democratically elected, which was much much longer than 2 months ago I find no logic in that line of thinking Also, before, it was that there wouldn't even BE a peace TALK until Syria did that...now it's they just have to do that and the peace talks would end with Syria getting what it's always wanted, the Golan Heights The last major press event in Syria and Israel was Pelosi...but ofcourse, give her no credit... I'm waiting for some argument about how Pelosi screwed things up and this latest move towards peace is actually a horrible thing for the US and the world | ||||

| Syria hasn't even officially responded and Israel hasn't even officially taken a real position (typical of Israel) yet you expect them to give credit to Pelosi...why would Israel want to thank a Catholic from the less Israeli-friendly party and why would Syria thank an American? | ||||

Thinking she had anything to do with this is delusional. | ||||
