CNN Exposes Earmarks as well as Murtha bullying

When asked about his other earmarks he responded that they're available with the appropriations committee then said, no wait, they're not available there either. Sorry, my earmarks are private and I won't discuss the millions in tax dollars I'm wasting.

This just absurd.

CNN has surprisingly been doing a great job exposing earmarks and making it public.

My understanding of the original bill is that they included earmarks for mountains of shit that different politicians wanted just to get them to vote for a bill that included timetables for troop withdrawal.

...maybe they forgot to take those out when they gutted the bill of anything resembling teeth.

It is complete horse shit really. I have written in many times to congress that bills should only have related things on them and be pass on their own merits, not to be added to later. To add things AFTER it passes...i can't even describe how retarded that is. It is a completely different bill at that point. Once something passes it should be untouchable.

This is ridiculous on so many levels, lets lump ethics all into one big package called "How JaJae the admin thinks Congress should be run"

There is a difference between lobbyists taking people to scotland so they can buy votes for things that have NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PEOPLE THEY REPRESENT and a congressman keeping jobs in his district

I find absolutely nothing wrong with Murtha keeping jobs in his district, have you ever been there, do you know how much it struggles?

I know, some people think the Democrats coming to power meant all the poor urban districts we represent would be cut off from all federal funds so we can appeal to people with libertarian leanings, but sorry, those people aren't the base and support of the democratic party

It's simply "district-welfare" and Democrats are for welfare, the GOP is against it...

It'd be just as silly if you made a post saying "Even though Democrats say they want to reduce abortions, they actually support a women's right to choose!" I mean HELLO the GOP is pro-life, the Dems are pro-choice...

GOP is "small government so we can lower you taxes!" Dems are "helpful government so we can aid the lower, middle, and even upper classes"

It's like you're dumbfounded why people would complain about the GOP expanding government, especially through much more disgusting ways, and seem to cut Democrats some slack

Yes I did. I thought the GOP was doing so horribly the Democrats would have to have done better by default, which is why leading up to 06 I supported the Democrats to retake power over hundreds of posts.

What are you talking about? He bullies congressmen for the advantage of priming his own district with Federal Money! Yes because they're doing other unethical things that aren't against the new rules. Making new rules, but taking advantage of other unethical loopholes doesn't mean they've done anything.
