When that girl went over and started preaching at the lady in the bowling alley I was impressed by the lady's self-control. I would've had to cut the little girl off and told her I don't care what she has to say, and she shouldn't waste her breath.

That or I would've started poking holes in her belief system.

what's scarier than this movie, is the fact that the movie doesn't scare some people.

in my creative writing class i wrote a short story with an anti-religious message and the prof and i had a talk about it. he was the kind of prof who would always offhandedly mention how we should thank god for this and that, and it was also quite obvious that he was homophobic because of some of the things he said (which motivated me to say homoerotic things in class on purpose to make him squirm). he once asked me what my religion was and when i told him i didnt have one he told me that, "oh, then you probably dont understand what it means to have a purpose," and when he said it, he was being sincere. he didnt think he was being condescending.

i recommended this movie to him and he went and watched it towards the end of the year. when i asked him how he liked it he said he wasnt scared by it like i said he might have been, and that he's been to places like that.

does this include other forms of child abuse? should i be more tolerant of those who sexually molest children, for example?

what was going on in that movie was indoctrination. they were brainwashing those children and making them cry because they were supposed "sinners." there were kids yammering on in nonsensical jibberish, or having seizures on the floor, unattended. there was a lady saying that these kids should be willing to give up their lives and be just as radical as the muslims in the middle east who blow themselves up.

it was scary.

there was a mother teaching her children that science doesnt prove anything with one book, and teaching her kids that science proves that creationism is correct with another. that kind of blatant ignorance on the mother's part, is scary.

why is it you automatically think those who are saying something critical of Christianity are atheists?

it's not as if America is divided into Christians or Atheists.

I am a church going Christian and this movie scared the crap out of me. What everyone has said so far has been right on the money.

Since when did we as a society become blood thirsty under the guise of religion and be ok with that? I believe it has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with power. Christianity against Muslims, Muslims against Jews etc etc. It is a never ending cycle. The folks in the film are brainwashing their kids and exploiting them into this cycle and it is truly sad!

The message in this religion in the movie is lost.
